Palin's "Undead" Political Career Has Malek Looking For Clues

I will be taking a break from blogging for a while for very happy personal reasons, and I've got to say, it couldn't happen at a better time.  Every single day lately the news about Palin must look more horrific from the viewpoint of her Klassless Kooky Klan.

In a playful mood the other night I posted a comment on Fred Malek's blog asking him what he thought about Palin's predilection for 3rd parties. Now I can't presume Mr. Malek took notice of my question, but nevertheless his next post pretty much answered my query.  Malek just posted his "Top 10 Republican Leaders Who Could Be President" and Palin is nowhere to be seen from 1 to 10.

GOP "Kingmaker" Fred Malek knows a dark horse when he sees one, and he also knows when to stop flogging a dead one.  He still gives an obligatory nod to Caribou Barbie in his list of influential Republicans, "...Romney, Pawlenty, Barbour, McConnell, Boehner, Gingrich, Palin, and others."

Palin, and others.

Women that Malek places ahead of Palin on a list of GOPers who "Could Be President" include Meg Whitman, who he says "has a long road ahead", and Kelly Ayotte - "The young and proven Attorney General of New Hampshire is poised to win this Senate seat next year. She has the friendly and reasonable comportment of an Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins but is more center right in her philosophy and thus better positioned for future leadership."

Young.  PROVEN.    Reasonable comportment.  Center right in her philosophy.  Future leadership.

As we all know so well, not one of those words describe Bad Sarah. And the unspoken criticism is there - Ayotte is a woman who has held and kept a responsible position.  Ahhh, back at the AK pad this has got to be stinging the papery thin-skinned One and her Stapletongued sidekick.  Palin's only DC ally - aside from mad-Scientologist Coale - looks forward to reasonable leadership in the GOP, much like reasonable people from both parties do. There is no place for Palin on his list.

Palin fills a space at the bottom of the post along with a couple of other flops - a no-name-recognition diplomat in Singapore and Marco Rubio who is poised to lose in a Senate race against Crist in Florida.  Here Malek describes the GOP Goodtime Girl as "charismatic", "effective" and someone he "likes a lot." And apparently someone who is so out of touch that he will be perusing her book for "some clues" as to what the heck is going through that "effective" little head of hers.  Malek has telegraphed his meaning very well.  Palin is as much of a strange brew to him, long time GOP insider, as she is to the rest of us.

Palin's flamed-out comet is becoming just a memory of a bad omen.

Here's a final likely denouement for Palin's vampiric political career - a career that is already dead, but lives on "undead" in the minds of fantasists, extremists and C4P creepy cringers.  Already forced to dwell in a self-imposed political twilight half-life of Facebook posts and carefully orchestrated appearances, Palin's thinly shrouded and monsterous personal and financial scandals must vigilantly be kept from exposure to the light of day.

Her dwindling faithful may not question her, Team Sarah is melting into the floor, her few close associates are either falling away or considered "muzzled" and "leashed".  She can only hope to live on as a sort of "immortal" in the minds of her cultish clique, whose cash she regularly feeds on through her ungodly speaking fees, corrupt PAC and AK Trust, and pre-orders for propped up book sales.

Palin's ghastly personal scandals could very well finish her off quite soon.  There is a hunter in her woods, and he's got a silver bullet with her name on it.  Palin's phantom hopes are to vegetate in this undead fashion until the US Presidential primaries give her one last stand - a chance for drawing the last precious monies from her charismatic cult.

The spotlight clearly isn't as appealing anymore, as any focused attention could result in a slip or exposure, a release of the bats, the inner demons, the lie that unravels the tattered web.  And yet Palin's Boogeyman will always be the media she despises, who will cover her whether she gets plastic surgery, fights with Levi, or stages a run in Iowa.  These days she prefers the shadows.

If Palin somehow makes it to 2012 without a humiliating exposure, her inevitable defeats in a few primary races will decisively drive the stake through her corpselike political career, finally ending one of the downright spookiest public tales in the history of our country.

On that scary note - I wish everyone out there a delicious and fun-loving Halloween.  BOO!

UPDATE:  Of course everyone is giving thanks to S-error P for once again "Snatching Defeat From the Jaws of Victory" as her hotly backed radical right wing candidate Hoffman lost a New York Congressional seat that has been held by the GOP for over 150 years to a moderate Democrat. For this we liberals heartily give "thanks" to Palin for wielding her anti-matter political clout in reverse as usual, and firmly consolidating her pariah status with the GOP - the party that last night won Governorships in New Jersey and Virginia with candidates that specifically asked Bad Sarah to stay away, please.  (With her usual bad manners Palin actually ran uninvited and possibly illegal robocalls at the last minute in Virginia, no doubt in order to be able to claim some influence in a race that had the winner with a double digit lead two weeks before election night.)  Finally, liberals across the land will also find themselves folding hands in thanksgiving to John McCain, who has anti-heroically managed to unleash the best weapon against the GOP that America has ever seen.

Next the spotlights will shine on Bad Sarah as she boogies with the media to flog her ghostwritten memoir beyond her shrinking sub-base of avid Facebook readers.  Oprah first, then Barbara Walters and a self important march across the land to visit her favorite rabid right conservative holier-than-thou radio and TV hosts that will ask her only fawning and adoring pre-arranged questions, plus stops at air force bases and conservative towns via bus. This will no doubt give the comedians and the rest of us a jolly holiday season filled with gaffes, La Palin word salads, dish on family scandals, and a hissing cameo appearance from Meghan "Scrooge" Stapletongue.  Palin's hasty-pudding of a book is already competing with several other tell-alls and is starting to be a hard sell, even to conservatives. FreedomWorks is now advertising the Newsmax pre-holiday price of "Going Rogue" of "Just $4.97, Best Price in the World".

$4.97 sounds like a lot for a pack of lies, refrigerator magnet wisdom and painfully extended basketball metaphors, but after all it is probably a sort of bargain.  Palin's version of events will to some degree be nailed down in writing, and any subsequent scandals that emerge will show her vividly for the purveyor of falsehoods that she is.  First the 2008 Presidential election, next the splintering of the GOP, and now the superpower to get Republican moderates voting Democratic when she weighs in on local elections.  For liberals in America, Palin truly is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Schaeffer Scorcher: This is rube white America...the cracker fundamentalist South...the Sarah Palin "He's Not-A-Real-American" Obama haters.

Rumors are bounding around the net of late - "The Trig Truth scandal is about to go viral", "An illegal fundamentalist adoption played a part""Alaska Fund Trust and SarahPAC are tainted and not generating enough $$$, hence STUFON..."

Meanwhile Frank Schaeffer continues to warn Americans and support a campaign to warn specific government officials about his very real fears of brewing violence: "I fear another Oklahoma type bombing, and most of all the assassination of President Obama."  As usual Palin plays a part in the nastiness, and now Rupert Murdoch is also named.

"If we take bin Laden seriously when he talks about God hating America's sins, we should take the America extremists as seriously. There should be no free ride for these idiots carrying weapons near presidential or other political gatherings."

"People like Operation Rescue should be investigated to see how many of their members are planning to murder more abortion providers. And if you want to know what the greatest threat to our president is, look no further than where evangelical "Christianity" intersects with Glenn Beck's fans. The FBI should seize his fan letter email. I'll bet they'd find some very interesting folks out there, people in militias, far right hate groups, and all the rest."

"They want revenge on all people not like them -- forever."

"Most of the media have ignored the looming threat of far right violence while conservatives deride those of us who link crazy talk to the potential of crazy actions."

Read Schaeffer's new interview with Raw Feed, and beware, some of the quotes from the rabid Christians threatening Schaeffer contain expletives.

If anyone thinks Schaeffer is being shrill, please note that apparently the White House itself feels "South Carolina Too Dangerous For Michelle Obama" to visit.

"Let’s get this straight: The White House has allowed first lady Michelle Obama to tool around Moscow, the Czech Republic and even Ghana in the past year, but officials are a little worried about her coming to South Carolina.

They consider the atmosphere here too dangerous.

Just when it seemed the summer of shame was over, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn says the White House is wary of bringing the first lady to the state because of the attitude of some of its residents.

Even if they are overreacting, or if Clyburn is overstating the case, it’s embarrassing. If security professionals, who apparently have reservations, actually believe it is too dangerous for the first family to visit a U.S. state, then we have dropped below the status of a Third World country.

It makes us look like buffoons, racists and backwater morons."

(Sorry about that pic everyone.  Like the fundies, it just won't go away.)

The Devils Advocate? Palin Or McCain Should Have Won Obama's Peace Prize

I ask you, Who did more to create worldwide peace right now?

McCain for losing the 2008 Presidential election by being talked into picking the ultimate GOP disaster candidate of all time, or

Palin herself, for almost single-handedly derailing the Republican go-go ride into WW333. Her war was going to be THE WAR TO END ALL TIMES no less.

It's really hard to decide between those two. But overall, my vote goes to Palin for both accelerating the GOP loss in 2008 and the added bonus of her strange political retirement in 2009 from her short stint as a Governor of a US state after a scant 2 odd years to sell a biography and make a formalized speech designed to entertain Red China's Communist elite. By these anti-savvy maneuvers, Palin has deleted herself from possible election to any position of power in 2012 at least. Palin really does deserve some type of embroidered badge for personally derailing her own chance to inadvertently start multiple wars by dipsy-dialing on the Red Phone in the Oval Office in real time responses to bloggers and foreign heads of state.
<-------Poll
The vaulted and intelligent granters of the Nobel Prize seem to be no less aware of the following than you or I:

According to AP Sarah Palin said this about the troops while at church: "Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God..." In other words, war in Iraq is a personal war commission from God himself.

Palin also stated that citizens should:

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. "

Palin's Dominionist background is far more radical than that of former President George W. Bush, who in the end suffered the nation's lowest popularity of any sitting President because of his horrendous wars. Incredibly, President George W. Bush told French President Jacques Chirac in early 2003 that Iraq must be invaded to thwart Gog and Magog, the Bible’s satanic agents of the Apocalypse. Yes. It is true. The former GOP President of the United States of America, in a top secret phone call to a major European ally, asked for French troops to join American soldiers in attacking Iraq as a mission from G-O-D himself.

Anyone paying attention has good reason to believe that war as waged by Americans under a Palin VP "takeover" of the Senate would be of biblical proportions - the US would have no reason to hesitate as it would be on God's side, or God would be siding with the GOP. Whatever. No wonder the usually stoic Scandanavian prize-givers got the bejessus scared out of them.

Regarding the well respected panel who rewards the Nobel Peace Prize. What I have to say is - well done. Controversy Is Good For Peace.

~The Nobel Peace Prize is a private award which may be bestowed on whomsoever is deemed fit by those that bestow it.
~The Nobel Peace Prize committee has banked a great deal of honorable political capital over the past century or so.
~This group decided to spend some of that exceptional capitol on creating peace, rather than capturing it from past efforts.
~In one stroke, this respected group made themselves more relevant to everyday news denizens than could have been anticipated. I ask you - How many times have we ever had so many conversations over a weekend or a watercooler about the Nobel Prize?

I leave it to others to debate the pros and cons of bestowing this honor on the first bi-racial American President, and the first Democrat in office in a world changed by 9/11.

I can only say that the Nobel Peace Prize has entered the 21st Century with a favoured Bang! by making itself relevant, topical and a force for peace rather than just an event that in today's news market would already have been yesterday's harvest. The Nobel Prize committee's wise decision guarantees that "peace" will be on the lips of all and sundry, from GOP lambast arses to well known topical and respected newsmakers to everyday citizens like you and I for at least several months.

Cosmic Joke Or Just Plain Karma? Murdoch Is The Biggest Blogger Of Them All

I have it on good authority that Rupert Murdoch owns the South China Morning Post - the very paper that we saw in the tight clutches of Sarah Caribou Barbie's very own hands at the airport as she left Hong Kong. Palin delivered her speech and like any diva, waited till she was in the right frame of mind to read her most important review. It took a negative spin. The original review is not available at the SCMP site anymore but Bree Palin saved it here.

I thought that the South China Morning Post must still be a "Rupert Free" paper because it published a less than positive review of Palin.

Well I languish in my cotton PJs corrected.

In the 90's, the Dow Jones swapped its holdings in Hong Kong's South China Morning Post for Rupert Murdoch's stake in a paper called - FEER - the Far Eastern Economic Review. (5th Paragraph here)

Then of course Rupurt gracefully and famously took over the Dow Jones. Giving Rupert control of all of the fun media toys, once again. (That must get boring.) In response, "Then editor, Philip Bowring (now Asia columnist for The International Herald Tribune) famously told the staff as he announced he had been sacked 'the carpetbaggers have taken over'." (6th para here)

Canadian Gary Coull, (remember that name) had been a business reporter for FEER and was coincidentally the founder of Hong Kong brokerage house CLSA. Gary Coull died in 2006.

Some English language reporters and investors decided to fight back against Murdoch's control over the less than abundant Asian free press. They did so online and presumably in their silk pajamas.

"Launched in August 2006 by a group of veteran and prominent Asia correspondents, Asia Sentinel is intended to fill a void left by the closure of such publications as AsiaWeek and the weekly edition of the Far Eastern Economic Review or FEER."

On announcement of Palin's visit to China, the Asia Sentinel offered a scathing and critical viewpoint of her selection as a speaker. And this tidbit was interesting:

"Another investor, however, called it [Palin's highly paid appearance] "typical of CLSA's decline since the death of Gary Coull," CLSA's co-founder, who died in 2006. "Or it might be a way of way of ingratiating with Beijing by making America look ridiculous," he fumed."

Coull was gone, and Murdoch had free reign to use Palin to make the United States look ridiculous in Asia, according to this unnamed investor who is in with the CLSA. So the "Palin is getting punked" thing might not have been all that wrong. We just didn't get that it wasn't the CLSA punking her. It was the high command of the Communist Chinese Party, a group Murdoch has been ingratiating himself with for decades.

Rupert seems to be paying Palin to comply willingly with his ruses while playing fast and loose with her in every possible way: moving up her book release by half a year (say what?), putting her speech in his Wall Street Journal Blog and then yanking it offline, and smashing her in print not just once, but twice and this lipstick spokesmodel thing really didn't help. I mean, Girl only came out of hiding to speak less than a week and a half ago! Bus bumping over the top of Palin fast enough Rupert? Training that rouged and rogue-y Pitbull to sit down and shut up can't be an easy task.

Turns out, Palin's karma has a more viscious bite than even Meg Stapletongue.

So has Palin finally met her match in Dominating-Big-Daddy Murdoch? Let's face it. Rupert Murdoch is the Cosmic Blogger of All Bloggers. No? Why not? After all he owns most of the media, and whatever he chooses to say can go right to print, just like all of us blogspot folks, voxers, wordpressers and others. He just doesn't have to bother to type it, and he gets a lot more traffic.

It does seem strange that in so short a time Murdoch would be so publicly cruel to his new playmate. If La Palin deviates even one step out of line, is it Big Daddy Blogger Murdoch's intention to show her exactly how he can make her or break her in an instant? Palin has had a famously thorny relationship with the media and with all bloggers. Why, in the end, should her relationship with Rupert be any different?

As that CLSA investor said, by humiliating Palin, Murdoch achieves the end of showing the high command of Communist China just where his loyalties lie. Making the US look ridiculous isn't so hard these days actually, but the Chinese Top Brass like to be amused, and when Murdoch can lay claim to doing exactly that, they just embrace him more warmly. If you have any doubt about Murdoch's desire to ingratiate himself with the leaders of Communist China, start reading here.

Strange, strange bedfellows La Palin has found herself frolicking with. And all for the sake of helping Alaska and spending more time with her family, right?

The Wall Street Journal Flushes Palin's Speech After A Few Hours

Wonkette reports that The Wall Street Journal published the text of the Sarracuda's Hong Kong speech online here, then without explanation, yanked it offline just a few hours later.

Let's not forget of course that The Wall Street Journal is now owned lock stock and barrel by Rupert Murdoch, the one and only media tycoon that also has Palin locked into a book deal, and who also happened to arrange her Hong Kong speech.

So that's why the now-not-so-respectable WSJ is the only media outlet that "obtained" a complete transcript of Palin's speech...but what light does this throw on their decision to yank it? ...Hmmm, Rupurt is managing his Palin brand carefully and thought better of having the whole text out there for all and sundry to see, apparently. Perhaps he intends to recycle the speech at her next engagement - after a month of practice she's got all the words in almost all the right places by now. Why do you think the WSJ would pull a whoopsie like that?

To get a feel for how the speaking engagement went from the point of view of people who actually attended, check out this Bree Palin catch of the less-than-glowing review in the South China Morning Post. Looks like SCMP is one sheet that Murdoch still doesn't own, and it must be somewhat important - Bree also provided this pic of that very paper in Tundra Barbie's hands as she exits Hong Kong for some much needed R&R, no doubt.

This article from the Independent UK by attendee Robert Frisk is along the same lines but even more entertaining.

UPDATE: The WSJ didn't consider Palin's speech part of "all the news fit to print" (ok I know, that's the Grey Lady's motto). But excerpts did end up on faithful Murdoch employee Greta Van Suckup's webpage, and a version sans the silly ending and other changes is posted on Palin's very own Facebook page.

Exclusive! Palin's Hong Kong Speech - Leaked By Tina Fey

Apparently Palin's Hong Kong speech dealt with many serious Chinese/American issues such as the tire trade war, eating with chopsticks, and - shopping in Hong Kong before the pirates show up?

Good Evening then! As one of our past American presidents once famously said, “I am a Berlin pastry.” Tonight I’d like to say as well, “I am a Hong Kong dumpling.” Looking out at this wonderful audience, I’d like to say that I feel I have so much in common with you. Call me a trail blazer (winks) then but as I look out across at the sea of faces, I’m reminded of nothing so much as our own home grown Native Alaskans!

I am so excited about coming to China. From what I understand, unlike America the entire nation of your people here are Red State-ers. And thank you so much for inviting me here to this great land of Hong Kong, the birthplace of King Kong – of course, you know we Americans don’t go in much for Monarchy.

But underneath it all we’re really just so very much the same, aren’t we? For
example, I’m looking forward to trying my first Chinese Egg Roll with all of you, because I had no idea that you celebrated Easter too in such a way in this new land. It might surprise you to know that the Continent of China holds a great fascination for young Americans. As I remember even in high school, one of my basketball teammates telling me about that famous book on your geography called “The Yellow River,” written by I. P. Freely.

I understand that China became a nation just 60 years ago. I just want you to know that we real Americans appreciate your struggle, and are also happy to provide you brand new up-and-comer nations with all the wisdom and insight America has to
offer as the founder of Constitutions. In fact, I’d like to invite you to join me in thinking of the U.S. as just another Big Brother.

China is my kind of place, where the media doesn’t just make things up here. Our good friend Mr. Murdoch told me himself that in Chinese “The Free Press” means that your enterprising local laundries won’t charge for ironing on big orders. But before I spoke today, I found out that you call your President a Premier, which means “the best or the first” in American. I like the sound of that and believe me, if I could be “the
best or the first” Premier the U.S. ever had that would be the door I'd open. And everybody just loves your Premier King Wen too! Apparently there isn’t even one single negative blogger complaining about him on the internet, and that really is something also.

I understand that China does have its historical struggles. For example, in my reading I found that pirates and their pirating are such a problem here. It's no wonder because Hong Kong is just so famous for its shopping! Right when we got here, Piper and I strolled down the few blocks from our hotel and found sidewalks just like an open
air Saks 5th Avenue. It might not be popular to say so with the European Establishment, but when your waitresses wear Chanel and all the school kids have Louis Vitton backpacks, you just know your state is on the right track!

Standing here, It’s just not my style to ignore the recent inroads made by
my former election opponent Mr. Obama to virtually throw a fork in that road of America's usually friendly trade relations with China, paved so carefully by previous Republican administrations. There is no circular logic in slashing foreign tires entering on US soil for example, when we have so much riding on them, keeping our energy needs rolling towards markets both domestic and international. These globalized trade freedoms as they stand can only brighten that shining path that is so very much a part of America’s future with her yellow partner, that we puncture at our peril. Americans such as myself fully support the Hong Konganese in their quest to progress capitalism and entrapreneurialship throughout the mainland, and all the islands too.

In closing, I want to send out a strong message about our International foreign relations and mutual concern over those authors of “War and Peace.” As all know the strong symbol for China is the Dragon, and
also I have been known as quite the Pitbull when necessity calls for. Now I've not yet seen a Dragon being uplifted by a Pitbull, or vice versa, but where there’s a will there’s always away. In other words, if the world is like a Chinese Box, then China, I'm in your corner no matter where in the world I am. It’s such a little known fact that China shares a common border with America right next to my home state of proud Alaska. So I promise you, that the Russian Bear Putin won’t be rearin’ his head over here while I’m nearby, no matter how long your Continental borders run alongside together. I say, not on Mama Grizzly’s watch!

And when you Red men and women too of the Chinese nation might often strive to immigrate to the future great Red States of America, our borders will have open arms and we’ll show you just what we mean when we suggest now that you eat your Chinese food - “WITH FORKS FOR CHANGE”

And Change is what we are really all talking about here, like the Chinese goldfish that refuses to stop swimming in its American bowl. I could say more about that goldfish, but you all know already, you who know me well, that it’s just swimming away from the mainstream, not content to go with the lesser of the two evils like all
the rest.

So for tonight, I’ll just say then, Good Night, and Thank you Hong Kong and God Bless America.

Palin & Co. - "Subversives From Within" By Frank Schaeffer

I feel that this article by an individual who was formerly deep inside the Christian Evangelical movement is absolutely too important to languish on a buried Huffington Post page. I ask everyone that passes this way to please pass this article on, print it out, discuss it with others. It is very hard to accept the information it contains - even those predisposed to accepting what Frank Schaeffer says probably wish to reject the information on some level. I know because that is what I find happening to me.

But Schaeffer's message finally makes some sense out of the nutty turn that civil discourse in America has taken. The point is not to be frightened or defensive here, but informed. In that spirit I am re-posting Mr. Schaeffer's article here in it's entirety.

Acts 9-18 "And immediately there fell from his
eyes as it had been scales..."

Glenn Beck and the 9/12 Marchers: Subversives From Within

Wh
o are these people?! Where do they come from?! Ordinary Americans might wonder why anyone would stoop so low as to follow Glenn Beck, Fox News and Dick Armey (and their corporate sponsors masquerading as "FreedomWorks") as they organize their "9/12 March On Washington" to cynically exploit the 9/11 attack.

Patriotic Americans might question the organizer's aim to provide a media forum for dimwitted right wingers to scream "Liar!" "Socialist!" "Antichrist!" "Muslim!" "Death Panels!" "He's not an American!" and so on and on and on about the commander in chief charged with defending us from further attacks. And some people might even cry "shame on you!" to the more mainstream Republicans participating that include Dick Armey of FreedomWorks, as well as GOP Reps. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Mike Pence of Indiana, Tom Price of Georgia, and South Carolina GOP Sen. Jim DeMint.

Ordinary folks from Planet Earth may ask why the Republican Party, right-wing activists and members of the Religious Right seem so unreachable with mere facts let alone decency and decorum. (As the proud father of a US Marine who fought in Afghanistan, I'm particularly outraged that these people would exploit the 9/11 attacks after my son and others were prepared to give their lives in response to our enemies.)

As a former Religious Right leader, who was raised (and home-schooled by my Evangelical-leader parents, Francis and Edith Schaeffer) in the movement, let me explain just why the ordinary rules of decency don't apply to the right these days.

Let me also answer this question: Who are these people?

Protecting Your Children From Satan

A big part of the answer to understanding the heightened climate of outright hate and fear of the "other" is the home school and Christian school movement. It is a modern incarnation of the anti-federal government ideology of earlier firebrands such as John Calhoun who was the 7th Vice President and a Southern politician in the 19th century. Calhoun embraced slavery, states' rights, limited government, and said that Americans should secede from the union if it went against their wishes. (See: "Calhoun Conservatism Raises Its Ugly Head" by Mike Lux in the Huffington Post Sept 11/09.)

In the early 1970s the evangelicals like my late father and James Dobson decided that the our society had fallen so far "away from God" and so far from "America's Christian history" that it was time to metaphorically decamp to not just another country but to another planet:. In other words virtually unnoticed by the media and mainstream political operatives, a big chunk of American society seceded from the union in all but name.

What they did is turn the white race-based in "Christian school" movement of the 1950s into a countercultural phenomena. As tens of thousands of new Christian schools opened, it was no longer just about "protecting" white kids from minorities and African-Americans. It was about protecting your children from Satan in other words the United States government's long reach through the public school system.

To protect your children from Satan -- in other words mainstream, open patriotic and pluralistic America -- you either kept them at home where mom and dad could teach the children right from wrong or send them to a cloistered private evangelical/fundamentalist school. At home or in school you used curriculum prepared by the likes of James--beat-your-child-and-dare-to-discipline-Dobson, RJ-slavery-was-a-good-thing-Rushdoony, or many and other right-wing anti-American activists. That curriculum presented "secular America" as downright evil. Hating the USA became next to godliness.

The Anti-American Home Schoolers Come Of Age

We are now several generations into this experiment of holier-than-thou withdrawal from our American mainstream culture. If you wonder who it is that's both running and underwriting organizations such as the Family Research Council, Focus On The Family, Freedom Works and other organizers of the 9/12 March and who are most faithful followers the likes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh or viewers of Fox News your answer is: it's the home school/Christian school generation of men and women now hitting their thirties and even forties who might as well have been raised on a different planet.

What are these home school and Christian school children taught? Here's a quote from one of the far right's leading home school curricula creators:

"The stranger in ancient Israel did not serve as a judge, although he received all the benefits of living in the land. The political question is this: By what biblical standard is the pagan to be granted the right to bring political sanctions against God's people? We recognize that unbelievers are not to vote in Church elections. Why should they be allowed to vote in civil elections in a covenanted Christian nation? Which judicial standards will they impose? By what other standard than the Bible?"
(Gary North of Institute For Christian Economics)

The generation raised on the belief that the US government is illegitimate because it is trying to "impose" non-biblical laws on people has hit the streets. These are the people who grew up indoctrinated into an alternative reality. Today they are out there waving signs of Obama dressed as Hitler. They are buying weapons and ammunition. Some are in the growing and revived militia movement. They are Dick Armey's foot soldiers. People like Armey and Beck can count on the ignorance of their dupes. It's against their religion to read a real newspaper, watch anything but Fox or go to a real school.

Evangelical Red Guards

Over the last 30 years Evangelical fundamentalists have managed to do what Chairman Mao failed to do with his Red Guards: indoctrinate a whole generation of evangelical people to see their own society as the enemy and act like subversives from within the culture. These people are more anti-American than Al-Qaeda. The "Christian Reconstruction" movement is working for theocracy. Reconstructionism (of which Gary North is one leader) says that the law given for the political and legal ordering of ancient Israel is intended for all people at all times.

Reconstructionist leader David Barton gives a definition:

"The Christian goal for the world is the universal development of Biblical theocratic republics, in which every area of life is redeemed and placed under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the rule of God's law."

Who are Glenn Beck's foot soldiers? In effect what we have is a group of indoctrinated people who have never actually lived in America because they were brought up deliberately cloistered from it by their parents and churches. Because they are legally "Americans" they can move freely around our democracy trying to destroy it working within the United States. Today they are acting like a fifth column, no, they are a fifth column. Some of them have not just seceded metaphorically, there is even a growing movement for states to secede literally.

Today the right wing America haters actually are doing to America what no "illegal" immigrants ever do: work to overthrow our democracy and replace it with a theocracy. The home-schooled, privately educated brainwashed horde are an antidemocratic, fundamentally anti-American political movement. For a start they do not accept the results of the last election.

Liberal/Progressive Wishful Thinking and Blindness

Meanwhile those ordinary Americans including many Democrats, progressives and liberals who work within the system can hardly imagine that there are people so far outside the lines of what they regard as ordinary decent behavior that the progressives seem psychologically unequipped to deal with this reality.

President Obama is one such person. His talk of bipartisanship is a pipe dream. Why?

Bipartisan Pipe Dream

Because you can't be bipartisan with people who don't play by the same rules -- say accepting the will of the people -- as you do. Obama is not alone in his gentlemanly wishful thinking. For instance consider New York Times book review editor Sam Tanenhaus saying in his book (The Death of Conservatism) that the the conservative movement is over.

Tanenhaus rightly points out that the extremism of the right has driven away traditional Republicans. I ought to know! I, as a life-long Republican and former Religious Right activist helped create this situation. But Tanenhaus and others like him just don't get the fact that the far right is resurgent, in fact more dangerous than ever as a wounded animal is dangerous. They don't get it because kindly liberals also live in a bubble.

The kindly liberal reasonable bubble of an open liberal culture in which reason, argument in fact prevails is far removed from the other America, one of militia training camps, fundamentalist churches, parents who follow Dobson's "parenting" advice by "breaking" their children and whipping them (as Dobson tells them to do in his books) and thus raising the damaged and dangerous automatons of biblical vengeance and sadism.

The Last Chess Game You'll Ever Play

What reasonable people don't understand is this: if one person is playing chess abiding by the rules and their opponent is losing at the chess game it may appear that they have lost the match. But what if one person is willing to change the rules? For instance, if you're playing chess against someone who -- if they start losing -- takes a lead pipe out of their back pocket and smashes you over the head with it the "rules" change.

Serial Killers

The real story of the Religious Right and their power to destroy is told by Max Blumenthal in Republican Gomorrah, and Jeff Sharlet in The Family and by me in Crazy For God. What our books have in common is the understanding that you can lose in the political system but still "win" -- according to your destructive agenda -- if your agenda is non-political but rather religious and apocalyptic in nature.

To understand the Religious Right today and how dangerous they are don't think politics -- think serial killers who "win" by "getting even" with the society they perceive as having disrespected them. It isn't about facts. It isn't about election results. It isn't about truth. It's about victimhood and revenge on the "elite" in other words on everyone not like you. It is about the weird combination of sadism and masochism Blumenthal describes in his book.

Think Republicans who have no plan of their own for health care reform other than stopping Obama. Think "Deathers" and "Birthers" who are all about de-legitimizing our system as "evil" because it includes rights for gays.

New Rules: Anarchy and Scorched Earth

What those who think that the power of the Religious Right and/or the Republicans is ended don't understand is that it's only ended if you believe in the rules. When I say the rules I mean, for instance, that if you lose an election the other side gets to legislate. However if your opponent is not interested in the rules and is, A) waiting for Jesus to return and consume all the "infidels" or, B) you are just waiting to take that "lead pipe" out of your back pocket -- say go to public meetings and intimidate people by carrying loaded weapons to those meetings -- or worse, maybe even use them to shoot down someone -- all polite bets are off!

The fact of the matter is we now know what the experiment in raising children outside of the American mainstream means. It means that there's a whole subculture within American culture that mistrusts facts precisely because they are facts. They glory an alternative view of not just politics but of reality.

They frequent the creationist museum and look at dioramas of dinosaurs cavorting with humans. They believe that gay people choose to be gay just stick it to the rest of us and could change if they invite Jesus into their hearts. They believe that before you run for governor of Alaska, for instance, you should get a preacher specializing in "casting out the spirit of witchcraft" to anoint you so you can win against the demonic forces of secularism -- as was the case with Sarah Palin when she first ran for governor. They believe that the NRA was telling the truth when they claimed that Obama would "take away your guns" and so have loaded up with more guns and ammunition. They think the time has come to rise up and overthrow the government. And yes, most of them also believe that black people are inferior to whites, so to have a black man in the White House is itself "proof" of American's fall from grace.

There's no arguing with such people and no winning against them using mere elections. They are not playing by American rules. Their idea of winning is not fair elections but Armageddon.

Religious Right Growing Again

Those who say that the Religious Right and the far right have lost their power are looking through the lens of rule-obeying democratic liberalism. They don't understand that their opponents will always carry the proverbial lead pipe in his or her back pocket. To the progressives who think that the Religious Right and the right wing has lost its power I say this: You're correct when it comes to political facts (for the moment) of the last election, but you're dead wrong when it comes to the way revolutions work.

Second American "Tea Party" Revolution

Revolutionaries never have played by the rules. They don't have to win by the rules. They hate the rules. They don't live in a rule based or fact based universe.

They believe they are serving a "higher cause" so it makes the "mere human" rules unimportant. They're ready to shout down opponents, call out "liar" about someone telling the truth, undermine public meetings and/or commit physical violence. They are also willing to become the tools of cynical corporate lobbyists using them for ulterior purposes, say stalling health care reform.

In order to "win" -- in other words destroy our country as we know it -- the far right merely needs to be true to its own rule which is, to put it very mildly, that coloring outside the lines is not only perfectly okay but required.

Conclusion

Not only do the Religious Right distrust facts to them facts are evil. You are "satanic" if you believe in evolution. You're also satanic if you believe health-care reform is about anything but death panels and abortions. You're satanic if you don't believe that gay people are evil or that if you think sex education is sensible. You're satanic if you don't believe in Satan!

The tactics that progressives develop for actually winning against the right have to involve far more than politics. They have to also involve ceaseless vigilance against an enemy that has now -- literally -- raised up an armed, paranoid and deluded alternative nation within our borders and created a fifth column to undermine the United States and our democracy. They need to be called out by the rest of us in no uncertain terms.

Long term the Religious Right subculture has to be understood, then exposed for what it is: an anti-democracy movement built on willful lies with potentially violent underpinnings in the thrall of an apocalyptic cult of revenge on everyone not like "us." It is also the useful tool of corporate lobbyists. Who use these shock troops of the proudly ignorant for non-ideological reasons.

The Religious Right may have lost a round politically but they've still got a "lead pipe" in their back pocket. They can still "win" by making the rest of us lose our democracy by increments. They will even spit in the rest of our faces by exploiting the national tragedy of 9/11 in their 9/12 March.

UPDATE - Information IS power, and while I don't want to overburden you many fine readers, this link from GenieO takes you to another absolutely MUST READ article on the business side of the conservative equation. Please take a moment to inform yourself about "Movement Conservatism" - the selling of public policy as a commodity. Murdoch presenting Palin to Hong Kong on Sept. 23rd fits precisely into the whole, crazy quilt puzzle pattern perfectly. (see post below with polls still running to the left.)

Big Scarah In Little China - Murdoch Will Have The Last Laugh

How well connected to China is Rupert Murdoch? According to his former right hand man Bruce Dover's tell-all book "Rupert's Adventures In China," in 1996 media mogul Murdoch underwrote Web site development for the People's Daily, the Chinese Communist Party's "official mouthpiece."

That's pretty damm connected, but that's not half of it.

A quick google will bring up a half dozen connections, including an insider trading scandal involving a wealthy Hong Kong family. But that's just incidental. Murdoch operates as a Shadowy Devil Incarnate doing what ordinary mortals would consider impossible and of course, immoral. This is the man who broke the British printing unions and who launched the 4th US television network in the US. He seduced us with candy like "The Simpsons," began doping us with reality television, then to our eternal dismay and damnation, began systematically raping our nation's weakest minds with Fox News.

Murdoch's decades long campaign to control a portion of China's airwaves, and thus Chinese hearts and minds, has been relentless. He published the memoirs of Deng Xiaoping's youngest daughter and feted her at parties and at his home in the '90s. Murdoch blundered with China's leaders in the beginning, but by abject kow-towing, apologizing, making the Chinese Communist hardliners smile with pleasing censorship, insulting The Dalai Lama and generally acting just as a good propaganda minister to a repressive regime should, he slowly won them over.

Murdoch topped off his China campaign by shaking off his wife of 31 years in a surprise move and marrying Wendi Deng, a Hong Kong femme fatale 38 years his junior who was a media exec and his "great help and adviser" in his own words (pictured with him above and with Bad Sarah below). So even though silk and chopsticks aren't the first things that come to mind when you think of ol' Murder Murdoch, fact is that he and Hong Kong are kinda like Palin and Alaska, cut from the same cloth and inevitably tied together for better or worse.

Does this give any of you dear readers a better idea why, perhaps, the September 23rd CLSA Hong Kong engagement is the only one that Palin has supposedly accepted? Why her speaking fee would be enough to satisfy her insatiable lawyer? Why Meg Stapletongue is no doubt sitting on her twitching hands and refusing to respond as everyone laughs at the Big Joke that is supposed to be on Palin? Rupert Murdoch is calling the shots now for Caribou Barbie, and Beltway GOP insiders can go to hell for all she cares. Greta and John Coale are still useful, but even Greta with her established bully pulpit news program, elite Scientology status and fancy East Coast law degree is, after all, just another Murdoch employee. Just like Sarah.

I don't buy Huff Po's take on this speaking engagement, and frankly I don't understand why we don't see Rachel Weiner, Vincent Fernando at Business Insider, The Wall Street Journal Blog or others looking more closely into the Palin/Murdoch/Hong Kong connection before dismissing the date as a joke. Is even the liberal free press a Murdoch pawn? Palin won't be punked. In fact saying so is the perfect way to lower everyone's expectations. This is an event designed and orchestrated by Murdoch himself. Sarah will appear (gasps, awe and wonder!), she will deliver a speech written by a literate Murdoch pick, and she will have practiced. She will be the toast of Hong Kong, 'cause that's the way Murdoch wants it, and he always gets what he wants.

Wait and see.

In the meantime, anyone care to place some bets?

(Here's a link to a scene from "Big Trouble In Little China" one of the most entertaining B movies ever. I think of the old wizard guy with a beard as dear old Murder.)

UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal Blog linked above is owned by Murdoch along with the Wall Street Journal and the Dow Jones Industrial Average Stock Index. Does he own Business Insider as well? It doesn't appear so, but who knows? Perhaps that explains why the "punked" idea got so thoroughly disseminated to lower expectations on behalf of "Sarah Doolittle" (see comments.) That still doesn't excuse Huff Po for picking up the story. Take a moment to look behind you like I just did, and make sure that Murdoch doesn't own your backside. Whew, safe for the time being anyway.

Fingers Pointing Backwards - Palin Supporters Make Excuses For Sarah's No Show Blow #7

Vaunted diva of the right Sarah Palin has blown off the Alaska Family Council's much anticipated anti-abortion event at an Anchorage church like so much lint on a fine Saks Fifth Avenue jacket. According to the ADN, "President Jim Minnery said...organizers have been talking to Palin "contacts" for weeks about it..."All we can do is take people at their word..." Minnery said. "We've been working for several weeks on the event, promoting it very heavily..."

Palin "blowing" an event has now become as inevitable as the wind. And according to her so-called "conservative" fans, Palin is not to blame for this 7th fiasco. Seems like no matter what Madam Pit Bull does or doesn't do, she is not responsible for it. It's just not her fault.

IT'S WILLOW'S FAULT

debinOH visited the Cringers4Palin and reported on their comments -

"My favorite from her followers is that maybe Willow is picking up the phone & just saying yes so she can get back on the phone & talk to her friends. Yeah, I am sure that they take a yes from one of her kids. Then they spend tons of money on advertising, etc. Who are these people? I rarely go there because quite frankly I think they are nuts, but I figured it would be good for a laugh today."

NPN also took our chances last night and ventured into C4Pee territory armed with news from the ADN, and using church event organizer Jim Minnery's quoted statements as a body shield. I received very little flak as I subscribed to comments and did no further reconnaisance in the no-zone. Here's what they said:

IT'S THE EVENT'S FAULT

Hefmeir Says - "She NEVER confirmed the event. It is the EVENT's fault, not Palin's fault."

IT'S MINNERY'S FAULT

In Rebecca Mansour's words - "Minnery was the dope who dissed her about her Supreme Court pick and then backtracked and apologized. Why in the world should I believe that he's grown a brain since that stupid occurrence?"

IT'S STAR PARKER'S FAULT

Kenn - "This was a FAKE "appearance", Star Parker invented this fake "appearance."

(Perhaps to take the blame like a good conservative should, Star Parker will be appearing on Eddie Burke's odious radio hatefest today at 4pm.)

IT'S A LIBERAL CONSPIRACY

Ms Liberty says - "As for the ADN piece, perhaps I'm watching too much Glenn Beck and I've become paranoid, (NO? Ya think?) but it seems like these "she's-coming-oops!-she's-not" incidents have happened too many times now to be explained by simple miscommunication with the Palin camp. How many "Palin contacts" are there really anyway? They appear to be a four- or five-person operation at present. Surely if one of these folks misspoke and said she'd be there it shouldn't be hard to figure out who it was. It's certainly telling that these "contacts" are being kept anonymous, no? I seriously wouldn't put it past the Alinskyites to manufacture all of these crossed wires just to make Sarah look bad and her operation seem second-rate."

("Alinskyites" is C4Pee codespeak for all liberals who all rabidly use "Alinsky's Rules For Radicals" when putting forward their agenda to crush conservatives. In retaliation, conservatives must act like Alinskyites or risk a painful extermination. Or something to that effect...)

In a final stupor of Palindoration, Ms. Liberty adds - "Sarah will be remembered in the history books as the leader of the third wave of feminism. Her name will be right up there with Susan B. Anthony's."

COULD IT EVEN REMOTELY BE MEG STAPLETON'S FAULT?

PEC says - "Palin contacts? Anonymous? This is getting so bad Meg needs to put a calendar out there with scheduled events. If it is blank it is blank. I'm fine with that. Now where is Sarah? That is a big question. She is out of State?"

Poor guy, you can almost hear the panic in his pixels.

IT'S EX-GOV STAFF MEMBER KRIS PERRY'S FAULT

HRH pieces it together - "Meg gets a lot of grief, but you know, it was Kris Perry that Palin called her "right hand man" in the resignation speech. And Perry is one of the few who also left state service when Palin did, I'm assuming, to continue to work with Palin. I know we're never s'posed to assume but that was really the impression given.

Perry traveled with Palin during the VP campaign. So maybe Perry's the one who is not getting it together, and Meg as the spokesperson has to keep going out and clearing things up??"

On IM, EyeOnYou noted - "This latest fiasco has her supporters blaming the event organisers/hosts, the media for reporting this, a perhaps "current or former" member of her staff who is out to get her, a non member of her staff who is pretending to be within her clique and acting on her behalf without authorization...the list will no doubt continue on from the supporters who will find ways to blame everyone and anyone except for Sarah Palin."

So if any of you venture into C4P no-no land or heaven forbid Team Sarah, or any other rock Palin supporters can still be found dwelling under, you will no doubt discover many more culprits behind this No Show Blow #7. Kindly gather the names of those responsible parties here in comments. It will be a virtual flower garden of Palinanity, a strange bouquet watered by the tears of the devout.

Who knows, maybe one day one of them will read it and shake free of their delusions.

(Polls are still running, and more choices have been added.)

Comic Opera Or Greek Tragedy - Why'd Prima Donna Palin Blow It This Time - New Poll

"WHAAAAT?"

<---- New poll at left. And if La Diva manages to tick any more large groups of conservatives off tonight, less hungry souls than I will have to be on top of it - its time for dinner and a glass of good non-virtual red wine. La Diva's antics rival and even exceed the utter narcissism of opera's most famous Prima Donnas. The list of her jilted suitors so far:

1. Eagle Forum Pro Life Event - 9/08
2. Republican Fundraiser in Orange County - 9/26/08
3. Co-host of Rep Govs Ass Dinner w/ Mark Sanford - 5/8/09
(probably a good idea to blow, in retrospect)
4. White House Correspondents Dinner - 5/9/09
5. Conservative Political Action Conference - 6/8/09

6. Simi Valley Rep Women Ronald Reagan Library Gala - 8/8/09
7. Alaskans For Parental Rights Campaign
, ChangePoint Church - 8/27/98
8. Which supporter will get a freshly laid Sarah Palin egg-in-the-face next?

Thanks to RunninL8 for the ultimate "What, Me Worry?" Mad Palin pic - taken from a supporters billboard - we think.

<---- And the "Blow Or Show" poll is still running - you never know with Queen Sarah, she might have just asked Stapletongue to let loose in order to prime the audience for her appearance - a true Diva move indeed.

You Demanded A Betting Pool - Will La Palin Show? Or Blow? UPDATE: SHE BLOWS!!!!!

I noticed in my trips around the blogosphere that people want to place bets on whether Palin will "Show or Blow" the August 27th church event. Well...I looked into it and it might be a little too late to actually set up a betting pool, but this time around may I offer you a poll instead of a pool?

And I'll look into finding some way to set up some kind of entertaining way to bet in the future - perhaps with virtual chips or even real cashola.

From The Palin Detox Post: "According to Wikipedia Pit Bulls were originally used in 'both bull and bear baiting' - hence the name. Pits were also introduced to the realm of dog fighting so that spectators could have a form of entertainment and gambling."

So it seems that actually the pit bull thing was more accurate than Palin could have ever realized...

Cast your vote on whether Palin will "Show or Blow" on 8/27/09 - and remember, she has a habit of blowing events with an 8 in the date!

1. Eagle Forum Pro Life Event - 9/08
2. Republican Fundraiser in Orange County - 9/26/08
3. Co-host of Rep Govs Ass Dinner w/ Mark Sanford - 5/8/09
(probably a good idea to blow, in retrospect)
4. White House Correspondents Dinner - 5/9/09
5. Conservative Political Action Conference - 6/8/09

6. Simi Valley Rep Women Ronald Reagan Library Gala - 8/8/09

UPDATE: Just when I was all settled back and enjoying watching the votes come in, Gryphen has the scoop
...but take a moment and vote anyway, you NEVER know with that sneaky La Palin Diva.

Just for the record, we had 19 votes at the time the news broke that Saradiculous just wasn't that into the APR - 3 for show, 7 for blow, 7 for she don't know, and 2 for Palin who?

And I was just going to relax and start making dinner. I mean NO ONE can trust Palin not to bust a vicious move, can they? Not me and the other two who voted for a "show" this time, not the religious right, not the fancy Republican ladies in California. Oh yeah, C4P - they trust her. And a few ugly right wing thugs. Oh yeah, and Glen Beck. Ugggh. Lost my appetite.

Palin D-Listed By Forbes

There was some kind of brou-ha-ha spreading itself around last week or so that Palin is somehow so powerful that she can "influence healthcare policy" by posting on her Facebook blog. Another roll your eyes, try to ignore the idiocy meme that got up on its shaky legs for a minute before collapsing in a heap. The idea that Palin now exercises any type of power whatsoever makes good gossip, background noise or chitter chatter, and that's about it.

Forbes Magazine just released their annual accounting of the 100 most powerful women in the world. It will no doubt come as a huge surprise to Conservatives4Palin that their icon does not grace this indicator. Instead, the list is populated by women exercising real leadership in the areas of commerce, business and politics.

Let's face it, Palin's level of power belongs on the curled end of a rolled out list somewhere slightly above Orly Taitz perhaps, but well below Katie Couric and even Tina Fey. Certainly she ranks nowhere near Mary Erdoes. Never heard of Mary? Mary isn't known for her favorite high heels or her power shopping, or even her own barbarous war on wildlife. It seems that Mary Erdoes, dead last on this year's Forbes list of 100 women, exercises her very real and considerable powers as the Chairman of JP Morgan Global Wealth Management relatively quietly and without ever once making a comedian apologize or starting an argument with a blogger. Amazing, no?

Women who exercise real power in the US political sphere include: #36 Hillery Clinton US Secretary of State, #35 Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House, and Cabinet Members Janet Nepolitano #51 and Katherine Sibeleus at #56. First Lady Michelle Obama joined the fray at #40 and Sonia Sotomeyer also debuted at #54. Women from around the world populated the list, including Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany at #1.

Of course, none of the successful women above ever considered it a great career move "not to go with the flow" and resign abruptly from office, twitter their way into William Shatner's shtick, or use a ghostwritten Facebook page to telegraph their "brand."

Let's give a moment of positive reinforcement to these women who help run the world every day with dignity and style~

1 Angela Merkel Chancellor Germany
2 Sheila Bair Chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. U.S.
3 Indra Nooyi Chief executive, PepsiCo U.S.
4 Cynthia Carroll Chief executive, Anglo American U.K.
5 Ho Ching Chief executive, Temasek Singapore
6 Irene Rosenfeld Chief executive, Kraft Foods U.S.
7 Ellen Kullman Chief executive, DuPont U.S.
8 Angela Braly Chief executive, WellPoint U.S.
9 Anne Lauvergeon Chief executive, Areva France
10 Lynn Elsenhans Chief executive, Sunoco U.S.
11 Cristina Fernandez President Argentina
12 Carol Bartz Chief executive, Yahoo U.S.
13 Sonia Gandhi President, Indian National Congress Party India
14 Ursula Burns Chief executive, Xerox Corp. U.S.
15 Anne Mulcahy Chairman, Xerox Corp. U.S.
16 Safra Catz President, Oracle U.S.
17 Christine Lagarde Minister of Economy, Finance & Employment France
18 Gail Kelly Chief executive, Westpac Australia
19 Marjorie Scardino Chief executive, Pearson Plc. U.K.
20 Chanda Kochhar Chief executive, ICICI Bank India
21 Mary Sammons Chief executive, Rite Aid Corp. U.S.
22 Michelle Bachelet President Chile
23 Paula Reynolds Chief restructuring officer, AIG U.S.
24 Carol Meyrowitz Chief executive, TJX Companies U.S.
25 Andrea Jung Chief executive, Avon U.S.

Check out the entire list of 100 women here and here.

And for a really refreshing take on the healthcare debate, a visit to www.billionairesforwealthcare.com is a must! These people have the magic formula down - protesting with style, humor and fun while making their point very very clear to any sentient being and completely befuddling the poor devils that show up to protest against their own interests. The Sarah Palin Detox Post

Breaking Up With A Mean Girl

Haven't we all dated someone that we look back at later and go, "Huh?" Just like a nice person in a bad relationship, the American people need to make a clean break now with Sarah Palin, while we have the chance. We need to laugh at jokes that don't include her, we need to get out and see who else is out there. Then maybe later, we can be civil, or even "friends" - meaning that we don't instantly get queasy as soon as we know she's going to be in town, or hide in the bathroom if we accidentally hear that voice, or instinctively jerk our heads around the next time we see those boots. We need a break and some distance, so that she'll be "just a chapter" in our public life, and not a defining part of it. Pretty soon, well maybe in a couple of years, we won't even think about her at all, and countries will stop asking us about her. We'll need to be able to say, "Yeah, we don't know what was going on in our collective head back then, and she'll always be a part of us, and we'll always have a special place for her, but things are just so much better now without her in our life. Oh sure, we bump into her once in awhile, and that's cool."

The election of November 2008 was an event to celebrate, and our long national hangover "herself" has finally departed. Bleary with trying to remember it all, some kind-hearted souls are moved to feel a twinge of sympathy for The Ex of Alaska. On some level, her constant harping on a theme has settled in - why'd everybody have to be so darn mean to her?

I'd like to set the record a little straighter here. NailinPailinNow was started to deal with Palin as a politician - perhaps the most dramatically incompetent one this country has ever seen. Palin incompetence, Palin hubris, Palin ignorance, Palin not-being-Reagan, and generally Palin not-fit-for-public-office were the issues tackled here. Palin-is-downright-mean was not really covered before. But it can be now.

While posing as the ultimate American Dream Girl, the barracuda beauty queen is in reality the ultimate American Mean Girl. No one should shed a tear for Sarah, she does NOT spare tears for others either publicly or privately.

Here's what I'm talking about:

~ Even under a Bush White House, the Secret Service outspokenly blamed Sarah Palin specifically for "a spike in death threats against US President-elect Barack Obama." The Secret Service detailed a dramatic surge in threats against the Democratic leader, coinciding with Palin's attack rhetoric that Obama was an associate of terrorists and an anti-patriot. Links here and here.

~ The verbal attacks by Palin on Obama provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign had to order her to tone down the rhetoric. Palin apparently made these attacks by her sweet little old self, without clearance from the McCain campaign.

~Palin is not just vicious to her opponents. Not by any means. It was widely reported that Palin was "a nightmare" for her own campaign staff to deal with. She refused to prepare for the Couric interview with her staff, then blamed them when she failed. Fox News reported that after that interview Palin turned nasty with her staff and began to accuse them of mishandling her. "Palin would view press clippings of herself in the morning and throw “tantrums” over the negative coverage. There were times when she would be so nasty and angry that her staff was reduced to tears." Link here

~ Think that was a one time deal, 'cause Sarahcuda was under pressure? Think again. As recently as this month The New York Times reported that, "When Tom Wright, chief of staff for the speaker of the Alaska House, suggested that the governor would catch heat for leaving, Ms. Palin stormed into his office and, according to a person familiar with the conversation, “proceeded to ream him out.” Just Sarah being Sarah. Link here.

~ As long ago as October '06, commenters to this ADN article report that: "Knowles and Palin were guest speakers at the Shop Steward Leadership conference in Girdwood. Once Knowles began speaking Palin realized the event wasn't what she thought it was. Caught off guard and unprepared she was heard bawling out a staffer over the phone." Another account puts it this way: "Reportedly Palin expected 15-20 people at a meeting and when she showed up and there were 200 she went into the restroom, screamed at her staff, and burst into tears."

~Kaye Sloan worked for Palin in Wasilla. She states, "Sarah Palin ruined the lives of many dedicated, hard-working people who loved the City of Wasilla. She took every opportunity to slam John Stein, a good man, in public."

~ In her very first meeting as a newly minted Governor, Palin addressed the Alaska legislature in a condescending tone, saying "All of you here need some adult supervision!" As an attack Governor, Palin called for a "backlash" against citizens who filed legal ethics complaints, and later made an empty threat to sue citizen blogger Shannyn Moore on the 4th of July. Her first act after resigning was to threaten liberal blogger Gryphen of IM with a lawsuit in his kindergarten class.

~As a Mayor, she harassed a school librarian to the point that the lady eventually just left town. As a dig at her former staffers, she took swipes by telling a group of GOP's at a taped Lincoln dinner event in a holier-than-thou manner that she couldn't find anyone she wanted to hold hands with and pray with among the McCain people. In one now famous interview, she giggled as Dj's made fun of a woman with cancer.

~Never one to miss an opportunity, Palin got low-level staffers, who presumably didn't know any better, to buy extra clothes for her aside from what was officially overspent spent on her. “She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” said a McCain adviser. “She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family, or anyone else.” Let's face it, there was a reason Palin was called "Little Shop of Horrors" by a political operative who knew her personally.

Have we ever heard a hint of remorse for any of Palin's attacking behavior? No. Obama is supposed to apologize to The Special Olympics, David Letterman is supposed to apologize for making a living, but Sarah Palin? Apologize? She'll bring on the End Times first.

Relationships have "deal breakers" and it is the contention of this blog that Palin's campaign attacks on Obama were it for her engagment with the American people. People who know almost nothing else about her still remember that. Personally, I do not forgive this behavior. Others may forgive, but no one forgets. Especially as Palinbots and Palinistas constantly crow with glee that liberals "are so afraid of Palin" ad nauseum. Palin and her followers apparently enjoy a cocktail of venomous hatred that can tip over into possible physical violence at any moment.

~ The men in Palin's near family need to tread carefully around her. Palin has no troubles when her attack dog Meg Stapleton calls Levi Johnston a liar, nor does she mind feuding with him publicly herself. Of course Sarah famously feuded with her ex-brother-in-law, using her office to try and pressure others to fire him from his job, thereby ushering the word Troopergate into common usage. While we all know she fired Monegan for failing to fire the trooper, she said HERSELF that she fired Monegan because he was trying to start the nation's first rape prevention program! Firing a guy because he's trying to help wounded women? That's our Sarah!

~Women receive little sympathy from Palin when they fall on the other side of her pet issues. As the former Gov and in her role as a conservative theocrat, Palin personally cut funding by 20% for Convent House Alaska, which sheltered unwed teen mothers for 18 months at a time, putting teen women and children literally out on the street. Very recently Palin lobbied for a bill in which victims of incest would need to get permission to abort. What does that actually mean? A girl who has been raped by her father must get his permission to abort his child. This starts to take us into Austrian rapist dad Fritzl territory, who fathered several children with his captive daughter. Palin didn't get her bill, but she would presumably agree with incest dad Fritzl's point of view when it comes to this question.

~ Palin's ultra-heartlessness regarding the lives of helpless animals is a matter of record. It's true, Sarah Palin actually kills puppies - wolf puppies that is. She introduced an unprecedented "wildlife jihad" program, opposed by federal wildlife officials, that among other atrocities pays for gassing wolf pups in their puppy dens where they are presumably left to rot. Of course the puppy's dams have already been shot from helicopters from which they have almost zero sporting chance to escape, their legs blunt-cut off for bounty prizes. And on the day of the '09 Presidential inauguration when Barak Obama called for Americans to dedicate themselves to some type of public service, Palin announced a lawsuit against the United States in it's quest to protect Beluga whales. I ask you, America's Dream Girl, or America's Mean Girl?

So please, soft-hearted ones out there, don't shed a tear for Palin. She's got precious few to spare for anyone but herself.

Let's not forget, our departed American sweetheart is a proudly self-proclaimed "Pit Bull." Pit Bulls as a breed are known for their thick neck. large head, powerful jaws, persistence and ability to be trained to an owner's agenda. According to Wikipedia Pit Bulls were originally used in "both bull and bear baiting" - hence the name. Pits were also introduced to the realm of dog fighting so that spectators could have a form of entertainment and gambling. This all seems to fit Sarah to a tee. Incidentally, the Pit Bull breed is banned in England. Could Palin be next?

Nothing against the breed itself - like any animal, individual Pit Bulls are product of their upbringing. It is already a crime against animals that Palin began her "jihad on wildlife" in her native Alaska. It would add insult to injury to let an association with Palin smear the reputation of an entire breed of canines.

Coming Out Of The Ex-Pat Blogging Closet

Apparently I have a reputation for long posts, and this one is no exception. I've already eliminated some of Palin's pollution from my psyche by talking about her mean side - something I didn't do previously because I didn't think it added to political discourse. When she was in office, it was important to get Palin on the issues. Now I think it can be said that Palin has all those lawsuits and ethics complaints filed against her because she is 1.) unethical, and 2.) because people just really don't like her.

Whew. I feel better. But I've got much more to come - gossip, videos, quotes, name calling and stories. Aside from shaking off Palin, this detox program involves revealing what blogging against, around, and about her has been like. So grab your cup of spirulina and let's take a trip back in time, and a tour around the Palin blogiverse.

I started this blog because I believed that Palin was uninformed enough to think Africa was a country, which would surely make anyone think twice about ever voting for her, right? But no, it didn't. The counterspin on that leak was fast - in no time the average person thought it was "a hoax." I wanted good people like my in-laws, who vote Republican, to be able to be exposed to the facts about Palin - they like to read and relax in their private hours, not pour over news stories. I knew the "Country of Africa" story was no hoax, and I analyzed how it had been leaked to support my hunch. It seemed like a good idea to write all of my sources and analysis down. Palin generates so much disinformation that even recent issues become quickly mired in a heap of garbage news and newer Palin issues.

I thought, "That's how you get away with so many things - move fast, obfuscate, get people talking about the next thing, and they never quite nail down the facts." I wasn't sure if it was me talking or Palin's voice in my head, but I was pretty sure she wouldn't use the word obfuscate. So I had found my voice! And I was determined to hold that slippery Republican lady accountable based on what evidence I could find about her, and nail it down for others to see. Hence the name "NailinPalinNow" was born.

I had recently left the United States, to move to New Zealand. I did not feel that the world or the US could withstand another Bush-style presidency, which is what I saw coming down the pike with Palin running as a VP - more Rovian strategies, more Cheney-esque maneuverings, more Bush-like gaffing the US into debt and destruction - you get the idea. Even though I had left America behind, I felt that it was my duty to speak out on behalf of the country. I am still a citizen, still file a US tax return and still am eligible to vote. I had felt silenced during the Bush years, but I had no need for silence outside of the US. If I didn't speak my mind, do the research and share it with others, I would be disappointing no one, but myself.

In A Log Cabin, By Candlelight...

While dealing with being a new immigrant, setting up a new house and working full time, as well as helping my husband get through a year of schooling in our new home, I started this blog and posted when I could, or when I was especially moved. I never intended to post every day, but only during those times when "my cup boileth over" with distaste for the lies and distortions I saw coming from Sarah Palin, who was being hailed as the future of the GOP. I did fear that she could somehow worm her way into a position of high power, and I felt that the time to try to stop her was now, before she ever really got going. As I researched I saw in case after case that she was "not fit to serve in public office" and said so on my blog header. When I put that into print, I hadn't seen it anywhere else. At the time, it seemed a little daring.

During much of the time I blogged, it seemed like a good fight - Palin dished the scandals, bloggers followed her around picking them up and examining them one by one. When Fred Malek - a longtime GOP "kingmaker" - showed interest in Palin, I was alarmed. I'm convinced that if Palin had been able to follow the game plan of the GOP big boys like Malek and political lobbysts like Coale, she probably would have found her way into high office.

Flash forward to the weeks after the Ides of March '08, during what I think of as Palin's looser cannon days as she ricocheted between fighting with the media, bloggers, the RNC and her own legislature, (and no doubt "reaming out" anyone near at hand if she had something to be upset about, and she had plenty). It was clear to me that Palin simply could not be viewed anymore as either reasonable, controllable or viable by big GOP insiders. I wrote then that Palin would never recover politically from the week she had, and then she went on to have yet another dangerously disastrous week. I am happy to report that my instincts were right on - recently it came out that in late March, a senior official from the Republican Governors Association was dispatched to Alaska on a secret mission. GOP powers-that-be tried to stage an intervention with Palin, but she refused to listen, or "to sit down and shut up" as she always puts it - and her downbeat drumbeat marched on to self-annihilation.

By the time of the Letterman feud, unlike her followers and Fox News, I couldn't take Palin seriously enough to devote time to picking apart her newer antics. I found a new outlet in humor. Huffington Post, the mothership around which all liberal bloggers revolve, generously allows little guys like me to post topical links back to our blogs in comments. After posting links on Huff Po over the months, I had really come to appreciate the infinitely wicked sense of humor of the American public. Americans, especially Huff Po commenters, are really funny! Here's just one example of a great Huff Po thread. You can find another one on any given Sunday.

Humor is infectious, so I tried my hand at it and had a lot of fun doing a couple of humor posts. I received a whole lot of traffic and was rewarded with a rollicking bunch of commenters, and I ever so slightly tasted the power of debunking through a smile and a good time. I think this was good for me, the wonky researcher and serious anti-Palinist. I had been lightening up a lot just as Palin started taking Herself much too seriously. A politician that can't take a joke? It's almost un-American. I have grown to greatly respect the role of the King's Fool, in which individuals like Stewart, Colbert, Al Franken and even Letterman bring the powerful to task through humor. I would like to be more like them more of the time.

Which brings us to the present. I am, like everyone, Palin-detoxing. I don't really need to know what she's doing next. I'm not that interested in her Twitters, but when a doozy comes up, I like to here about it. I know that she'll be dishing out her fruit-salad-speeches to the faithful, and she'll be flying around and attacking in her Mean Girl mode and shedding tears of self pity in her Martyr Girl mode, and posing in her Dream Girl mode and that's all just as it should be - Palin is now officially in the field of Entertainment.

I'll still peruse the blogs and I support those who wish to continue to investigate La Palin, who is more of a "scandal phenomenon" than just a rotten former politician. Palin is in many ways a muse, or perhaps more properly the great Anti-Muse, and to some degree she will always anti-fascinate us.

Inside the Palin Blogiverse

The most traffic NailinPalinNow has ever had in 24 hours is 3,000 hits, which in the blogiverse puts it on the same terms as pluto - not even a real planet. But even when I don't post for weeks I still always get a steady 50-100 hits a day. A new post brings in about 1,000 hits in a day and another couple of thousand for the next week or so. This all suits me fine. I have never been a sensation, but the way I see it, at the very least, 50 people a day come over, sit down in my living room and listen to what I have to say and sometimes add to the discussion. People come by for all sorts of reasons, and if this blog simply is available in perpetuity as a resource on Palin, well that was always one of my aims.

Without the blessed woven web of the internet, I would never have telegraphed my thoughts and research to thousands of people from all over the world. On their behalf, I try to be scrupulous about sourcing and facts. I blog for my own satisfaction and as a public service, and fit it into my busy schedule like anyone fits in a hobby. Which is exactly what the vast majority of bloggers do, and why we are trusted and appreciated by curious, wry and inquiring minds everywhere.

S0me of the Palin Blogs and Bloggers

Immoral Minority - I'd like to say that my number one hero in the Palin Blogiverse is Gryphen at Immoral Minority, whose blog name is a play on the old "Moral Majority" of the 80's. This man has witty posts, a lot of patience, great style, a big heart, and above all, always has the up to date Alaska news and an insiders view of it. He also gives us little guy bloggers a place on his blogroll. In this aspect especially, he is head and shoulders above all the "the Alaska" bloggers in my book. For the first couple of months, I simply wrote because I wanted to and did not think about strangers reading what I was getting down. But when IM announced my presence back in January, I started to get that lifeblood of the internet: traffic. As I learned how to monitor traffic, I also learned how to increase it, and it was a great pleasure finding out that people enjoyed what I was doing, got something out of it, and were fun to talk to as well. But if Gryphen hadn't given me that initial nod, I might have simply continued to blog in isolation. Thanks Gryphen!

"The Alaskan Blogs" - This is a group of about 7 or so blogs run by activists that cut their teeth on decrying Palin way back before the rest of the US had even heard of her. They work tirelessly, they have a sense of humor, they get to the facts, they reveal what is hidden, and by golly, these pesky bloggers really irritated La Palin. Perhaps because of Alaskan neighborliness they are a bit clubby, which I think works to the detriment of the less well known or newer writers and activists. In their defense they are BUSY. Alaska Bloggers...give an extra leg up to the unheralded little guys who share your aims once in a while, you have no idea how much it means to us.

Shannyn Moore is building a career on the radio and television as well as a blogger and I feel that she is very well presented and poised with just the right amount of snipe where appropriate. I cheer you on Shannyn and I'm sure you will be the Palin pundit and expert on TV if Palin ever takes her fabled 2012 lap. (And some of us speculate, maybe even hope, that you and Gryphen are "an item," but that's just a rumor. Will you ever put it to rest?)

Celtic Diva just radiates a lovely protectiveness from her blog. She is like Mother Nature herself - first in the Palin blogiverse and probably will still be there when the other bloggers have passed from memory. She has shown great courage and set a great example by taking her activism out of the blogiverse and into the real world of action. I salute you and have always supported you lovely Celtic Diva. You are a force of nature that I am proud to be (even slightly) associated with.

AKMudflats is arguably the most famous of the Alaskan bloggers and resides in a starlit realm far above my lowly station, by dint of intelligence, hard work, and getting the job really really done, as well as being well positioned at the right time - all the characteristics of a powerful reporting media voice. I salute and respect you AKM, and thank you for giving me a place on your Iheartmudflats blogroll. I know you have a bright future and I have always though YOU should run for public office! Mudflatters are AKMs devoted readers. They bonded closely after Palin was picked for VP, and their complex, hilarious and sometimes insular community is a testament to the quality of AKM's writing, as well as the power of Palin to rile up the opposition into concerted action. Mudpuppies, I wish I knew you better, but certainly no Palin Blogiverse would ever be complete without you!

Alaska Real
- This blog is very well written and comes from an Alaskan native perspective. I quoted and linked to this site, and commented and emailed the writer on three occasions inviting suggestions on native issues that needed coverage, guest blogging, I was open to just about anything. I wanted to research and write more on native Alaskan women's issues and I wanted to be "real" about it - talking to someone on the scene, not just looking up news articles online. Over several months I waited and never heard a word back from Alaska Real, either in comments on the blog or in my email inbox, which was quite disappointing.

Palingates - Regina who writes Palingates is my fellow international blogger, writing from a delicious location in France. I think we both felt an immediate sense of comradship when we encountered each other in the Palin Blogiverse - we both understood that Palin wasn't just an Alaskan problem, or a US problem - she was a Bush-like potential problem for the entire world. Regina writes with wit, and with incredible acumen when it comes to complicated issues that must be picked apart with a fine toothed comb and yet discussed in an interesting and informative manner. Regina will continue to write on Palin and I will faithfully read her ongoing analysis as will so many others! Palingates is especially marked with distinction by being singled out for special hatred by the Conservatives4Palin blog, which always simply ends up generating more fans and more traffic for her site.

At one point I had become discouraged. I couldn't get Celtic Diva or Mudflats to list me on their blogrolls, and Alaska Real was stonily igorning me. I felt invisible and unworthy. Palingates' Regina sensed something, came by, picked me up and dusted me off, gave me some encouragment, and I was back to blogging in no time. That's how you know you've got a real friend in the blogiverse.

Palin Deceptions and Team Truther - This is an interesting group that is dedicated to getting to the bottom of the mysteries surrounding Trig's birth. I joined Team Truther, even though I am not passionate about the birth issue, simply because it is an interesting topic with some merit, and there is more to this group than just the birth story. They deal with many of Palin's Deceptions, and it's a group of witty and informed individuals who are adept at investigating anything that draws their interest. Real investigation involves a lot of nitty-gritty work, and these people are willing to do that to get to the truth. Among this group you will find people who specialize in "Palinese" the study of how to translate what Palin says into regular English. I enjoy them, their sites and their focus. If there are buried Palin truths to be uncovered (pretty likely), I am glad this group is on the job looking for them.

TheoPalinism and Syrin's Blog - These are two blogs that I feel are under utilized by the public. Both uncover interesting and sometimes startling info from time to time and are definitely worth the visit. For example, on the day of Palin's resignation, Syrin's Blog had it from personal sources (she grew up in Wasilla with Palin) that Todd was called back quite unexpectedly from a weekend fishing trip the morning Palin resigned - an excellent argument that the resignation was hardly planned. TheoPalinism is writing a book and she focuses on Palin's scary religious base of Dominionists, Evangelicals and others who mix mad end times plots with politics. Visit both of these sites if you haven't already and leave a comment if you have a moment.

We're Not That Stupid - A rambunctious and spicy blogger with a big heart and a pointed tongue - in a good way! I enjoy chekcing out what's simming on the stove over at her place regularly. This blogger's early support meant mountains to me!

Hypocrites And Heffalump Traps - Ennealogic is a talented blogger and intelligent and well known commenter. The name of the blog and her pen name come from her interest in the philosophy and mysticism of Gurdjieff.

Bree Palin, Blow Pop Palin - The new kids on the block. Welcome and happy blogging, may the era of The Ex be interesting and fun for you!

C4P - Unlike most of the blogs listed above, you won't find a link to Conservatives4Palin on my blogroll to the left. Occasionally I go to look over the Sea of Pee, as it is known, and on very rare occasions might even pick up a news item there that I don't see elsewhere. But forget trying to engage the group in friendly opposition discussions in comments. All I ever received back were rather purile remarks regarding my avatar picture (the same as my Blogger profile pic) calling me a Medusa (which I embraced), and some low-brow heckling. The site is well presented so I was a bit surprised at the churlishness there. But then, why? C4P is mad about Sarah Palin, and we know that she's a Mean Girl, so C4P is basically a spawning ground for the same type of toe-the-party-line-you're-either-with-us-or-against-us posturing as La Palin herself. Outsiders are not welcome! They call themselves "Ordinary Barbarians" over there, and Palin their "Barbaran Queen". 'nuff said.

Team Sarah - Words cannot adequately describe my distaste for this hermetically sealed site. It is like a private club where racists, tax evaders and bigots of all stripes gather together with peeved PUMAs, militant church ladies and enthusiastic teenage girls to further their mad Palin agenda. It was the rabid Team Sarah people you saw at the rallies to "Fire David Letterman." Team Sarah has called for so many boycotts on companies for perceived political slights that their members can barely go to a hotel or restaurant, or watch any TV channels, I kid you not! They are not supposed to eat Heinz Ketchup because John Kerry is married to a Heinz, they can't go to Olive Garden because it advertises with David Letterman, can't watch the Miss America Pageant (not sure why) or travel to any states that allow gay marriage - and that's just for starters. "Ideological purity" like that can shut you up in a really tight and constricting box, which is exactly what Team Sarah is. When the timing is right, the ongoing cultish weirdness that festers inside those sealed and slimy pink walls will finally be exposed somewhere, somehow in this blogiverse.

Sticks And Stones - Name Calling in the Palin Blogiverse

This is a little tidbit I've been saving for awhile. This is a collection of the many many names earned by La Palin from my own favorite "Bad Sarah" right down to one I saw just yesterday on the blog Fiery Blazing Handbasket (the last one listed). If you think some of the names Palin is called are bad, check out what her own supporters call her - many of them are just downright koo-koo.

Many of you will recognize names you coined, please take credit if you wish and anyone is welcome to add names you'd like to see on the list in comments~

Names Palin Is Called By The Populace:

America's Mean Girl, BS (Bad Sarah), Bible Spice, Ramble Spice, Babble Spice, Babble On Barbie, Caribou Barbie, The Paliban, Dictator of Alaskastan, Buttercup, Failin’ Palin, Gov. Failin and just plain “Failin”, GINO (Governor In Name Only), Grifter Governor, La Palin, MooseJaw Palin, The Moosinator, nilaP, Paliar, Palinocchio, Pain, PathologicPalin, Rouge Cou-Cou, Sarah Pimpin’, Saranoid, $arah Payme, S-error Palin, $ister Sarah, Sarah Snowbilly, Saracuda, Sarahdiculous, Sarah The Martyr, Queen Sarapatra, Sneuty Queen, The Queen of Babble-On, Queen of Whine, Saranoid, Sourpuss Palin, Sarahpuss, Scarah, She-rah Palin (The Avaricious), Snow Witch, Tundra Barbie, The Wasilla Hillbilly, Trig's Grandma, Little Shop Of Horrors, Sarah Quaylen, The Palin Reality Show, Sarah BarraQuitter, The Twitter Quitter, Gov For A Day, Quitter-In-Chief, QuitterBerry, The Ex, BailinPalin, the BitterTwitterQuitter, The BitterQuitterQueen, QuittyPants, Sarah Doolittle and Sarah-Barra-Screwed-Us

I love all of them for different purposes, but if I had to choose one then, "Paliban, The Dictator of Alaskastan" sums up Palin best for me.

8/09 Update: Unfortunately Palin's "brand" has taken a more gruesome turn - her newest nickname is "Death Panel Palin". May she ever be known by the sound of her own trumpet.

Palin Supporters Are Called:

Palinbots, Palinistas, Palindrones, Team Scary, Sarasites, Palin's Klassless Kooky Klan, Sarah Terror Squad, Team Psycho, Rebecca ManSour, Crazies4palin, Cyberstalkers4Palin, Cringers4Palin, Sea4Pee, SeaOfPea, Creepies4Palin, The Low IQers,Van Flea, Van Fly, Greta Van Suckup, Megamouth Stapletongue, Megaphone, Stapletongue, Mega Vipertongue, Lynn VincentPrice, Team Mean Girls, and The P-nuts!

I think my fave here is Cringers4Palin. MidnightCajun just threw that out one day and it stuck firmly in my funny bone. But then, the Cajun always manages to make me laugh.

Her Own Supporters Call Palin:

Queen Sarah, Sarah Barracuda, Sarahcuda, The ‘Cuda (affectionately), The Arctic Fox, The Arctic Siren, Hottest Governor From the Coldest State,Wasilla Warrior, Moose-Belle, Iron Lady of the North, Reagan In A Skirt, Joan Of The Arctic, The Storm, The Huntress, Barracuda, The Thrilla From Wasilla, Pitbull In Lipstick, The Happy Warrior, The Game Changer, Hurricane Sarah, The Storm, The Big Wow, Queen of the Last Frontier, Palina Huntress of Wasilla, Matanuska Maverick, Democrats’ Kryptonite, Arctic Annie Oakley, Warrior Queen of the Ordinary Barbarians, Momma Grizzly, Nanook of the North, Star Spangled Straight-Talker, Trig’s Mom, The Little Alaska General, Hostess With the Moosest, The Face That Launched A Thousand Axelrod Troll Ships, Sarah America, Queen Ester

Are some of these names bordering on cultish? Or are they just having fun? Maybe, but I for one would never think of Barak Obama simultaneously as President and someone who should spend time in a warrior costume. One thing we all seem to agree on - no one really calls Palin an Ice Queen - she's far too randomly explosive for that.

Quotes

Here are some choice Quotes on Palin. I'm sure there are many more. Add yours in comments and I will add to this list:

Videos

Here are my absolute favorite Palin videos, especially the first which recieved 2 million hits in two weeks and is a You Tube sensation. Apparently the kids are laughing even harder at Palin's hubris than we are. This talented kid (Shane Dawson) has The Ex Palin diva down, see if you agree! (Warning it is a bit vulgar, so screen before showing to kids and those of delicate sensibilities)

This is also a favorite of mine, a cartoon music video on Palin's horrific policies on wolves:

Well if you've sweated it out to the bottom of the Palin Detox post with me, I hope you are feeling as good as I am. In Shane Dawson's "Don't Trust Me" Sarah Palin video (linked above), La Palin waves her finger and teases "I'm never leaving". Well, neither am I on any permanent basis. I just thought I'd check in, reveal a little more about myself and my background than I have before and just let ya'll know - I might not post all the time, but I'm definitely around, and from time to time something is bound to bubble up and out of me - despite the fact that Alaska's Ex and the American people are officially broken up now!

So here's to wishing for a cleansed and brighter future for everyone involved, including you Mean Girl Sarah - as long as you stay well away from public office that is.

What Are Your Palin White House Headlines?

Palin's sourpuss persona has gone from tolerably absurd to grossly delusional. As a small example, on the (extended version) Today Show Matt Lauer interview she called on women's groups and "all the male groups" to "riot...start rising up" to protest TV comedian David Letterman, and called for Letterman to apologize to "young women across the country". How she decided during this crusade that most young girls have "have such low self esteem in America" I'm not sure, but she gets away with nonsense assertions like this one because all the other stuff she blows at us is so much nuttier.

For the present, it's best to retain a sense of humor about her and have faith in the basic common sense of the American people - the people that put a reasonable person in the White House during the last election.

No one can possibly believe Palin would be the right choice to handle high level negotiations at an international level. Imagine the daily headlines if Palin ever manages to party-crash her way into real power:

PALIN FEUDS WITH CARLA BRUNI DURING SARKOZY VISIT - States "There's a Place In Hell Reserved For Women Who Upstage Other Women"

MIDEAST IGNITES AS PALIN BLAMES AHMADINEJAD FOR MISSED MEETING

"PUTIN IS A PERVERT" STATES PALIN

QUEEN MIFFED AT PALIN'S REFUSAL TO COMMIT TO STATE DINNER

INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT POSTPONED TO FIT PALIN'S SCHEDULE

PALIN FEUDS WITH GOD, TEAM SARAH CALLS FOR BOYCOTT

DISAPPEARANCE OF JOHNSTON FAMILY - STILL A MYSTERY

WILLOW'S TRIPLETS - Tribble, Truck and Prick!!! ONLY IN PEOPLE MAGAZINE! AND TIME, USA TODAY, VANITY FAIR, WIRED, GOLF DIGEST, MAXIM...

LETTERMAN TREASON TRIAL BEGINS

Many of these headlines could be quite possible with Palin the the WHouse. And here's one that takes a small leap of imagination, but who knows?

ALIENS FIRE ON PALIN WHITE HOUSE,

Palin's Coale Keeps Scientology's Political Ambitions Burning Bright

Note To Readers: The subject of Scientology is complex, and recent articles exploring Palin's relationship to Scientologists provide only minimal information on the actual nature of Scientology, its history, and the political goals of this disturbing mind control cult. Readers who are used to scanning through short blog entries are generally expected to do the digging themselves if they have further interest. Unfortunately, not everyone has enough curiosity or time to do so. I hope that by ripping open some of Scientology's dirtier and darker seams, this piece will provide more than enough reference material for readers to conclude that this cult that cynically calls itself a church for tax purposes should have no place in the lives and careers of any public officials, or celebrities for that matter. Therefore this is an extremely long post, divided it into 7 sections for convenience. I invite every reader to spend time reading the entire post even if it means multiple visits. There are many surprises along the way. As we all know, the devil is always in the details.

Note To Palin Supporters: This article is addressed to you. Unfortunately I all too often see or hear comments from you such as, "Scientology is a religion, so why should I worry if Sarah Palin has friends of a different religion?", or "We need as many people as possible to like Sarah, it doesn't matter if they are Muslim, Jewish, or Scientologists" and "Scientology money is as good as any other money." and "There is no way there are Scientology slave camps right in the USA under the governments nose. I don't believe it." It is not acceptable to be willfully uninformed about Scientology, just because you trust Sarah Palin. As this article reveals, Palin is definitely not the first politician to be touched by Scientology or to give cult members access to political power. This has been a long term goal of the cult, and Palin is only the most recent, perhaps most energizing politician that the cult has began working itself onto like a parasite. Scientology does not hold the same status, nor deserve the kind of tolerance that is granted to the world's long standing religions. This is because of its self-proclaimed aims and its history of abusing its own members and outsiders who investigate the cult. We have common ground here. I do not support Sarah Palin, but she deserves better than to have the yoke of Scientology attached to her politically. So do you. Palin does not need Scientology connections, and in the end, these connections will only become political dynamite for her. Palin is uniquely positioned to lead the way in publicly shaking off connections with Scientologists. She will only gain respect and admirers if she does so. Please take some time to examine this cult more closely. When it comes to Scientology we need to all be on the same side, no matter what our political persuasion.

Scientology is not a religion. It is a money grubbing cult, and it is a dangerous cult. It flourishes in a twilight zone of fake respectability, and relies solely on people being generally uninformed about it. Ignorance, gullibility and isolation - this is the human compost in which the cult thrives. Scientology threatens men and women, it threatens children, it threatens families, it threatens outsiders, and it also threatens every single one of its own members with tragic losses - loss of self, of soul, of spirit, of freedom are the most intangible of these.

No politician should be considered reputable or respectable that takes money from Scientology or any powerful Scientologist - that includes Sarah Palin, Nancy Pelosi, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and the current Governor of Maryland, O'Malley. Scientology is a taint and a stain upon the face of our nation, and it is up to the public to demand that any public figure - including politicians, musicians and actors - must become "100% Scientology Free" if they are to remain popular or be granted the public's trust.

PART 1: Warning! Read At Your Own Risk

To get a real taste of how Scientology operates, we'll start with a few excerpts from a well researched article that was "...the target of an organized book-burning campaign by Scientologists as detailed in the Scarff deposition." This piece of journalism was awarded the Gerald Loeb Award for distinguished business and financial journalism, the Worth Bingham Prize and the Conscious In Media Awards from the American Society of Journalists and Authors." The full text, written in 1991 by Richard Behar, Associate Editor of Time Magazine, may be read here.

"They (Scientologists) take the best and the brightest people and destroy them."

"Eleven top Scientologists, including Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's wife, were sent to prison in the early 1980s for infiltrating, burglarizing and wiretapping more than 100 private and government agencies in attempts to block their investigations into the cult." "In recent years hundreds of longtime Scientology adherents -- many charging that they were mentally or physically abused -- have quit the church and criticized it at their own risk. Some have sued the church and won; others have settled for amounts in excess of $500,000. In various cases judges all over the world have labeled the church "schizophrenic and paranoid" and "corrupt, sinister and dangerous". (and much much more.)"

"Yet the outrage and litigation have failed to squelch Scientology. The group, which boasts 700 centers in 65 countries, threatens to become more insidious and pervasive than ever. Scientology is trying to go mainstream, a strategy that has sparked a renewed law enforcement campaign against the church. Many of the group's followers have been accused of committing financial scams, while the church is busy attracting the unwary through a wide array of front groups in such businesses as publishing, consulting, health care and even remedial education."

"According to the Cult Awareness Network, whose 23 chapters monitor more than 200 "mind control" cults, no group
prompts more telephone pleas for help than does Scientology. Says Cynthia Kisser, the network's Chicago-based executive director: "Scientology is quite likely the most ruthless, the most classically terroristic, the most litigious and the most lucrative cult the country has ever seen. No cult extracts more money from its members." [Note: since publication of this article, the Cult Awareness Network has been taken over by Scientology. Do not contact them!] "Strange things seem to happen to people who write about Scientology. Journalist Paulette Cooper wrote a critical book on the cult in 1971. This led to a Scientology plot (called Operation Freak-Out) whose goal, according to church documents, was "to get P.C. incarcerated in a mental institution or jail."

Scientology has left a poisonous, toxic slime trail of pay to pray, indoctrination, family debt, money laundering, mind control, ponzi schemes, medical fraud, forced/slave labor, forced abortions, torture, rape, extortion, conspiracy to commit murder, death, wrecked families and ruined lives.

Not exactly your little white church on the hill, now is it?

For writing about Scientology for Time Magazine, the cult targeted Behar under its "fair game" policy. "...at least 10 attorneys and six private detectives were unleashed by Scientology and its followers in an effort to threaten, harass and discredit me." They used several intimidation tactics, including obtaining an illegal copy of his personal credit report, harassing colleagues and neighbors, threatening to contact the SEC and the IRS, and obtaining information on him illegally to use in a federal lawsuit against him. Behar continues:

"One legal goal of Scientology is to bankrupt the opposition or bury it under paper. The church has 71 active lawsuits against the IRS alone. One of them, Miscavige vs. IRS, has required the U.S. to produce an index of 52,000 pages of documents. Boston attorney Michael Flynn, who helped Scientology victims from 1979 to 1987, personally endured 14 frivolous lawsuits, all of them dismissed. Another lawyer, Joseph Yanny, believes the church "has so subverted justice and the judicial system that it should be barred from seeking equity in any court." He should know: Yanny represented the cult until 1987, when, he says, he was asked to help church officials steal medical records to blackmail an opposing attorney (who was allegedly beaten up instead). Since Yanny quit representing the church, he has been the target of death threats, burglaries, lawsuits and other harassment." "The church's most fearsome advocates are its lawyers... Scientology has brought hundreds of suits against its perceived enemies and today pays an estimated $20 million annually to more than 100 lawyers." Scientology calls this "Legal Brutality."

PART 2: Enter Scientology Lobbyist Lawyer John P. Coale - Stage Left

John P. Coale really should wear one of those T-shirts that say, “I’m Kind of a Big Deal.”

As a lawyer, John P. Coale is so very very big, and he has done so much to forever warp the legal system in America with his aggressive actions against big corporations, that he has actually littered his destructive path with some "collateral good" along the way. Some good must have come from suing cigarette makers, right? And Ritalin manufacturers surely must be evil, right? American Lawyer Magazine saw fit to award Coale its "Most Frivolous Suit" Award for his legal maneuverings against his tailor, because the bad tailoring on his custom made shirts had subjected Coale to "public humiliation...severe emotional distress, and embarrassment." American Lawyer magazine also called John P. Coal "a symbol for everything wrong with the Plantiffs' bar."

Plaintiff's bar? What is the "Plaintiff's Bar"?

American Justice Partnership Foundation provides the following snapshot of these heavyweight lawyers who manage to fly mostly under the radar.

John P. Coale and "The Plantiff's Bar"

 “The Plantiffs' bar have taken on industry after industry, securing huge, and at times, crushing awards for their clients and exorbitant contingent fees for themselves. As a group, they have become one of the richest and most powerful lobbies in the United States, working with lightning speed and precision to ensure the enactment of favorable legislation and election or selection of judges and legislators sympathetic to their positions, and the utter defeat of any perceived threats to their livelihood."

"The trial lawyers’ industry is sometimes referred to as Trial Lawyers, Inc., a hypothetical corporation, "raking in almost $40 billion in revenues annually – 50% more than Microsoft or Intel and double that of Coca-Cola." (KRC: from Manhattan Institute, Trial Lawyers, Inc., p. 2)"

"The lawsuit industry’s lack of transparency prevents us from making an accurate profit estimate, but if its margins are as high as we suspect, Trial Lawyers, Inc. might well be the most profitable business in the world. (KRC: Manhattan Institute, Trial Lawyers, Inc., p. 2)"

"The point here is not that these are very rich people. It is that their law firms are even richer—with the depth and agility to field an array of well paid experts, legal strategists, private detectives, jury consultants, and top public relations people. Against such outfits, even the largest corporations can be left feeling intimidated. (KRC: Hantler, "Seven Myths ...", p. 23)"

 "This plutocracy (rule by the wealthy) of 60,000 plaintiffs’ attorneys is so powerful it can overwhelm the broader interests of industry, workers, municipalities, schools, charities, and individual citizens. (KRC: Hantler, "Seven Myths ...", p.23)"

"During the last several decades, the Plaintiffs' bar, aided by alliances with state attorneys general and the proliferation of mass tort legislation, has transformed itself from the once scorned step-child of the legal profession to the legal equivalent of Cinderella."

These are lawyers that rose from the generally despised position of "ambulance chasers" to become the Cinderellas of the legal world. But unfortunately for The Fairy Godmother, the plaintiffs' bar would not think twice about turning around and forcing her to give away most of her magical powers as "just" settlement for her shoddy workmanship on that glass slipper that fell off.

~John P. Coale won against cigarette manufacturers and Ritalin
~John P. Coale sued the FBI for its role in the Waco massacre
~John P. Coale handled the divorce of Lisa Marie Presley from Michael Jackson
~John P. Coale led the charge against American gun manufacturers. He boasted to "New Yorker Magazine", "[We] have the resources to start a war instead of taking little potshots...Well, we've started a war."

In the past, John P. Coale threw his mighty weight against Republicans. "It would be very, very horrifying to trial lawyers if Bush were elected," said John P. Coale…who has given over $70,000 to the Democrats. "To combat that, we want to make sure we have a Democratic president, House and Senate. There is some serious tobacco money being spread around."

"Today, as the line between class action and personal injury claims continues to blur, lawsuits have been filed against McDonald's on behalf of customers who claim the company's "junk food" made them fat. Trial lawyers are targeting the managed-care industry, lead paint manufacturers and pharmaceutical makers over drug pricing; some have even gone after cell phone makers for an unsubstantiated link between cell phones and brain cancer. And what benefit do the plaintiffs receive from actions such as these?... in some cases, nothing at all."

But let's be fair. Let’s give the man a chance to describe himself in his own words. "I am a pirate," Mr. Coale said proudly. "I have been described as an ambulance chaser, and I don't disagree.”

On top of all of John P. Coale's accomplishments - pirate, ambulance chaser, plaintiff's bar member and powerful plutocrat - Mr. Coale, Esq. is possibly the most dashing political lobbyist that is also a member of a cult that masquerades as a church. That’s right, in case you’ve been out in bush Alaska for the last 6 months without a laptop – John P. Coale is a Scientologist and is a member in good standing with The World's Number One Mind Control Cult.

And Mr. Coale is not just a rank and file auditor or trainer for Scientology either. No sireee. John P. Coale is an Operating Thetan. According to Scientology "liturgy" read and regurgitated by the faithful, this means that he: never has colds or accidents, has total recall of his entire life from conception on, can compute in seconds what the average person needs 30 or more minutes to do, is the example of a truly rational person, and he can “function apart from his body." As an OT-VII or Operating Thetan Level 7, he is also, according to Scientology materials "able to lift telephones off the hook in another room and read books while some distance away from them". No doubt this all comes in handy while simultaneously visiting Sarah Palin and suing the pants off her favorite rifle manufacturer.

We all can understand that when there is a new person in someone's life, there are things about the past that don't immediately get brought up. Mr. Coale has been known to chase some high profile political skirts, including Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi. So while John "The Pirate" Coale is cozying up to Sarah Palin perhaps he wisely has failed to mention that he has gone steady with various Democrats or that he sues gunmakers - fairly secure in the knowledge that Sarah P. is not a person that is likely to happen upon this information while thumbing through old copies of "The New Yorker Magazine".

PART 3: The Barracuda Triangle - Mr. Coale, Mrs. Palin and Mrs. Coale

The case is closed. John P. Coale is now the biggest heavyweight advisor in Bad Sarah’s political life, despite Mrs. Coale's slippery protests to the contrary, and a general wish by members of Team Sarah and Conservatives4Palin that this Scientology stuff would just go away so everyone could focus more on Obama.

We know that Coale is Sarah's advisor because every member of The Barracuda Triangle confirms it. Coale went to "see Sarah" during the Obama inauguration, perhaps for some political hand holding at a sensitive time. He gave us an unsettling image of himself lurking around just near enough to Palin so that he could keep a keen eye on her, while Palin seemed to allow his presence without really acknowledging it. Coale has called Sarah Palin a "fascinating person" who is "definitely not what the right thinks or the left thinks." This little comment has been largely ignored, and becomes chilling in light of Scientology's flirtation with the Governor of Alaska. Coale's wife has referred to Palin cheekily as her husband's "girlfriend" to whom he has "given advice" and "helped."

In interviews with both Politico and with Washington DC columnist Chris “The Fix’ Cillizza, Coale stated that he and Palin speak by phone regularly and email back and forth roughly once a week. In addition, Coale has supplied the information that he has met with Sarah in person “roughly ten times, and that half of those encounters lasted for at least an hour.” Meg Stapleton has chimed in saying that he’s only emailed her “less than a half a dozen times” but Coale disagrees with Palin advisor Meg, saying “a lot of the emails were without [Stapleton] around.”

Who knows how much of the real truth we are getting? What we are being told is enough - Coale has owned up to advising Sarah Palin since after her Vice Presidential loss on matters “surrounding her family that lingered after the campaign." This was probably advice on how to clean up the financial mess Palin created using Alaska state funds like a personal travel account, flying herself and her family around and feeding them at taxpayers expense when they accompanied her. Once she more or less addressed these issues, Coale mentored his political protege step by step - first suggesting that she start a leadership political action committee. SarahPAC was soon announced by Coale's dutiful wife Greta on Fox News. The free advertising on Fox News was a nice bonus to the much needed advice. Next Coale suggested that Sarah needed a Legal Defense Fund - and today she got the Alaska Fund Trust.

So far SarahPAC has been distinguished by what it hasn't done. It apparently didn't phone voters in Iowa, it apparently didn't schedule Palin to speak at a big RNC fundraiser, and it hasn’t published a financial statement yet. But by this point Coale is known as "protector of the Palin brand" and Washington insiders murmur that Coale ponied up the seed money for SarahPAC. While there is of yet no paper trail to either prove or disprove Coale's financial donations, it is clear that Coale is very interested in Palin's political future, very rich, and known to be generous to female politicians. Further, Palin is in dire straits legally and under siege politically - stubbornly resisting the message that if she opens herself up to the appearance of official impropriety, Alaskan citizens have the legal recourse to call her to task for it, and will.

Has Palin accepted much
needed funds like manna from heaven from this most amiable of her political advisors? Or has she declined such offers because she is so incorruptible, aside from taking unauthorized travel money, getting her house built by shady public funding, running up politically damaging shopping bills while campaigning, and many other questionable activities? Where there is smoke, is there fire? Where there is powerful cash, is there a needy politician ready to accept it? We all have our opinions, so I’ll leave it up to you to come to your own conclusions.

In a recent Baltimore Sun article John "The Pirate" Coale, denies giving money to either fund he has been instrumental in setting up. But he also hasn't been asked very many hard questions. Was money funneled to Palin through his wealthy friends and associates? Have Scientologists been instructed to donate? Coale, who is used to operating just outside of the political spotlight, has been getting an unusual amount of flak and attention for his role with Palin. "I'm getting it from both sides," Coale told me this week. "All the Democrats are [ticked] off at me because they think I'm running Sarah Inc. And Republicans are [ticked] off because ... they want to be the big cheese with Sarah Palin.”

Greta, Coale’s fellow cult member and wife, controls a valuable bully pulpit - her own show on Fox News. She can guarantee positive coverage of Palin and has appeared to be functioning as a virtual propaganda arm for the Governor of Alaska. However, Greta has stated somewhat disingenuously, or in other words, somewhat deceitfully, falsely or somewhat like a liar, that she doesn’t “even have [Palin’s] phone number or her e-mail address” because “the producers are the ones who book her” for interviews. So Greta, the public would like to know, Do you deny having access to the phone number of your husband's "girlfriend"? Most of the public simply doesn't believe you because we assume you are on speaking terms with your husband, who phones and emails Palin on a regular basis. Or is it that with a lawyer's smooth tongue, you know how to state a mistruth without speaking the lie - you can say your producers keep Palin's contact information and you don't have it without technically lying, right?

If the wife isn't being up front about her relationship with Palin, can we expect that the husband is being completely up front? And now Greta's professional ethics are called into question. As a former practicing lawyer, Mrs. Coale has attempted to step around the delicate issue of "inside access" to her interview subject, which leads to accusations of professional misconduct as a journalist.

“But when Van Susteren failed to disclose her husband's relationship to Palin, whether he was paid or not, and claimed only a professional relationship with the Palins, she was engaging in out-and-out duplicity and covering up a blatant professional conflict of interest” according to Geoffry Dunn's exploration of Greta’s fawning tabloid reporting here.

This is not the first time that Greta has been accused of professional misconduct, and gotten away with it. According to the St. Petersburg Times, both John P. Coale and wife Greta were officially chastised for their heavy handed “ambulance chasing” techniques in West Virginia while pursuing "Big Tobacco". While soliciting clients illegally doesn't sound like the most important crime in the world, the law industry looks on this activity as so heinous, that in most states a lawyer will lose their license to practice if they are caught and convicted of doing it.

In 1996, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia ruled that Coale and his wife were both guilty of professional misconduct, but the Court found itself “Reluctantly dismissing ethics charges against out-of-state lawyers for improper solicitation of clients in West Virginia, the Court held that while the evidence clearly supported the Disciplinary Board's finding that the respondents' conduct violated the Rules 7.1(c), 7.3(a), 7.3(b)(1), and 8.4(a) of the Rules of Professional Conduct, the Court did not have jurisdiction to discipline them because the misconduct occurred at a time when only persons "regularly engaged in the practice of law" in West Virginia were subject to professional discipline…” That same year, Coale’s law firm, with Greta sitting as counsel, were criticized for chasing after victim’s families in the Value Jet crash in an unethical manner. Ditto for the Bophal India disaster, when Coale earned the nickname Bophal Coale to his list of dismal credits because he was considered to once again be practicing the law unethically and underhandedly trolling for victims while they are still experiencing shock, pain and suffering, when it is considered unethical and usually illegal for lawyers to discuss business.

Palin certainly has a demonstrated taste for rather distasteful lawyers, as her affiliations with Mr. and Mrs. Coale and her recent championing of the rejected W.A.R. for Alaska Attorney General amply demonstrate.

Greta's Ethical Wasteland - Brought To You By Scientology

Greta has been “disingenuous” or "artful, crooked, cunning, designing, feigned, foxy, indirect,
mendacious, oblique, shifty, sly, tricky, uncandid, underhanded or wily" on at least a couple of other occasions - that is when Mrs. Coale carefully stated for print media that she is a Scientologist because “she likes the ethics” and “I am a strong advocate of their ethics”. Ethics in Scientology is not the same as in the real world. It means to "remove counter-intentions from the environment", i.e. to get the job done and apply Scientology.”

Mrs. Coale's "religion" Scientology has twisted and warped the meaning of the word "ethics" for her, and for any of its members in good standing. For example, if Greta works to produce a result that Scientology likes - like advocating that CNN kill a planned negative Scientology story - this is considered good for the church, or “Up Ethics.” If member of the cult has a lot of “Up Ethics” that means they are helping the church, and this is translated as also having "high statistics".

As Cult of Scientology fearless leader L. Ron Hubbard wrote (Hubb
ard Communications Office, HCOPL 1 Sep 1965, "Ethics Protection) "When people do start reporting [negatively on] a staff member with a high statistic, what you investigate is the person who turned in the report. In an ancient army a particularly brave deed was recognized by an award of the title of Kha-Khan. It was not a rank. The person remained what he was, BUT he was entitled to be forgiven the death penalty ten times in case in the future he did anything wrong. That was a Kha-Khan. That's what producing, high-statistic staff members are - Kha-Khans. They can get away with murder without a blink from Ethics.... And Ethics must recognize a Kha-Khan when it sees one - and tear up the bad report chits on the person with a yawn."

So, as far as the "ethics" of Scient
ology go, as long as Greta helps Scientology to advance, she can basically get away with murder. What a perfect spiritual haven for the twin souls of a high powered Washington lobbyist lawyer and his sold out Fox news reporter wife!

If Greta is less than transparent about her definition of "ethics", she is downright opaque wh
en it comes to money she donates to the cult. “Van Susteren not only refuses to discuss her affiliation with the church but her contributions to it appear to be concealed. For example, it said, a contribution of more than $100,000 to a Scientology building project is credited in a brochure to “Greta Conway." Conway is Van Susteren's middle name.” Greta donated at least $40,000 to the "war chest" of the International Association of Scientologists, listed in IMPACT Magazine issue #25; but no longer mentioned on later editions. The stated goals of the International Association of Scientologists is “To achieve the Aims of Scientology as originated by L. Ron Hubbard. And to "dismantle any group or organization" which prevents Scientology from advancing, using monies donated to this very "War Chest" that Greta contributed to at least once - to stifle opponents.

But l
et’s be charitable. Greta exhibits great dedication to The Number One Mind Control Church in the world. Perhaps she is just being modest about her support in a saintly sort of way. Perhaps her lawyering cult-leavened mind decided to hide her contributions because Scientology “raises red flags” in Washington Circles and “Scientology is considered, by and large by anyone [In Washington DC], to be a wacky cult." Perhaps. With Greta you never know. Maybe she sincerely believes in her church's activities - such as giving school children cult indoctrination material written by a rapacious, greedy bastard of a washed up Sci-Fi writer under the guise of providing legitimate school materials. Maybe this is just the sort of spiritual practice Greta has a calling to spread and defend in these very troubled times.

PART 4: Slave Camp Denial By Top Scientologists - Sort Of Like How The Nazis Did It?

Both John P. Coale and his life partner Greta have attained the uppermost ranks possible for Scientologists – this takes some doing, and they can not by any means be called casual members of the cult. Their connections to prominent church members are many. As noted above, Coale handled the divorce of prominent Scientologist Lisa Marie Presley. Tom Cruise once considered making a movie out of Coale’s exploits in the Bophal disaster. But here’s the real doozy: Loretta Miscavige, the mother of Scientology’s fearless leader David Miscavige, was the accountant for John P. Coale’s law firm right up to her death in 2005 of lung cancer. "She was in her late 60's or early 70's and she was working in Clearwater for Greta Van Susteren and Greta's husband John Cole (sic) at the time of her death."

So the mother of the undisputed leader of the biggest mind control cult in the world saw for decades on a daily basis exactly how much money funneled through John P. Coale’s office, and presumably channeled it wherever it was supposed to go. There is no more intimate business relationship than this. Except that most accountants hired in most legal firms did not give birth to the top person in the law firm partners' "church". It's as if John P. Coale and his wife are as close as family with David Miscavige. Given the hierarchical nature of the cult, it also means that John and Greta work under Miscavige, are directly allied with Miscavige, are operating right under his nose, their business revenues are under his thumb and they are most likely wrapped around his little finger as well. Greta and John's aims and goals for Scientology must be aligned exactly with David Miscavige's aims and goals for Scientology. David Miscavige is that charming fellow who infamously declared at a videotaped 2007 New Year's Eve event that one of Scientology's goals for the new millennium is nothing less than the global obliteration of psychiatry.

For a member in good standing, Scientology goals and practices supersede anything and everything else including home, family and moral qualms. This is a deeper level of Scientology “ethics.” If anyone, even a family member speaks against Scientology, even privately, they are declared a “suppressive person” by the church and the Scientologist will be considered “Out Ethics” until they can prove to the cult’s satisfaction they aren’t influenced against the cult. A suppressive person must be cut completely out of the cult member’s life. It doesn’t matter if they are a parent, a sibling, a spouse or even one’s own child. Scientology is ruthless in this regard – a suppressive person or "SP" must be cut out completely from the life of a member in good standing. Here is an example of someone being declared an SP as recently as September 2008.

If a run of the mill Scientologist is “Out Ethics” they may have had contact with a suppressive person, may have produced less in terms of money for the cult than they had previously, or they just may have pissed off someone. The “Out Ethics” Scientologist is graded on a scale of cult crimes, and must submit to a battery of e-meter sessions and usually a verbal battering that resembles a criminal interrogation. This may go on for days or even weeks. The Scientologist may be watched and confined even closer than usual during this time.

If "Out Ethics" Scientology cult members don't stop seeing an SP who happens to be their spouse or child, or "Out Ethics" members can't pull off killing a major national news story like Greta, or funnel big money into the cult, or just can't convince their accusers they are not "Out Ethics", they are sent into a lower caste in the Scientology world called the Rehabilitation Projects Force, or RPF, where they are treated like non-persons, forced into intense physical labor, underfed, under-housed and mentally and emotionally abused. It is the same scenario as experienced by dissenters during the Chinese Cultural Revolution or the Gulags of Soviet Russia. Eyewitness accounts of RPF workers include seeing mad, underfed people confined in dungeon like conditions, and people who are totally broken in spirit who appear as "filthy tired skeletons". Former Scientologists say that those in RPF are not allowed to speak unless spoken to.

In interviews and public records, former staffers have said they were alienated from society, stripped of familiar beliefs, punished for aberrant behavior, rewarded for conformity and worked beyond exhaustion to meet ever-escalating productivity quotas.
Slave labor is how Canadian authorities in 1984 described the Scientology work force. Understand that when Scientology comes to a new town, it usually has glowing plans to buy up and restore fading heritage buildings to a top notch level of grandeur. Guess who does most if not all of this labor? RPF mind controlled slave labor gangs.

If you have any doubts as to the nature of the RPF, please read further here,
here, here and here. Established RPF groups exist in Los Angeles, Gilman Hot Springs and Hemet, California and in Clearwater Florida, where multiple instances of abuse are reported. Scientology members have also been held against their will in Phoenix Az, Long Beach, Pomona and Glendale Ca, England, Australia and at sea.

“Operating in several American locations, these programs (called the Rehabilitation Project Force or simply, the RPF) involve classic brainwashing techniques. These techniques include (often forcible) confinement and physical coercion in the context of an intensive re-education program involving social and psychological degradations, forced confessions, and hard physical labor (Kent 2000; 2001a; 2001b; R. Young 1995, 107). Partly because of Germany's experience with forced labor camps during the Second World War, German officials were particularly concerned to learn about Scientology's operation of its own version of such camps in Europe and America. (Indeed, forced labor is specifically banned in post-war Germany by Article 12 of its constitution.) Moreover, parliamentary officials remained puzzled at the fact that American government officials were completely unaware of them, especially since the RPF has attracted so much American press (AFP 1998; Behar 1986, 318; Koff 1989; Shelor 1984; Welkos and Sappell 1990)." This article can be read in full here.

But who would conduct forced interrogations on their fellow church members, with the aim of whipping them back into proper cult think or booting them into a slavery camp for their betterment? Hmm. Would a good lawyer would be able to do this tricky job? Turns out that John P. Coale’s most recently completed Scientology course is the PTS/SP Course completed in 2005. Scientology uses this course to “teach participants to detect and handle suppressive persons - antisocial personalities who violently oppose any betterment activity or group.” After all of his legal degrees, and all of his high profile wins, John P. Coale must have felt pretty good about obtaining this church sponsored license to interrogate and send people to prison camps without having to deal with a judge at all.

The argument has been made that people at the top of Scientology’s pyramid scheme “don’t believe” in their church’s overreaching doctrine that all human suffering is caused by miserable Body Thetans embedded in humans hundreds of thousands of years ago, which were created by the scheming of Lord Xenu, evil head of the Galactic Confederation, in an explosive cocktail of hydrogen bombs, volcanoes and space ships. And the idea has been carefully sown and nurtured that the celebrities of Scientology and those at the top "don't know" about all the abuse, exploitation and human suffering that their own so called religion is responsible for on so very many levels.

It seems that these "people at the top" of the cult, like Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Greta and John P. Coale are in a no win situation. Either they know what is going on in Scientology, and they don't care because they benefit from it, or they are so woefully ignorant and misled themselves that any teenager in any part of the world with a laptop can instantly become more informed than they are. A curious web-surfer can be more informed about the history of their so-called religion than a successful and world traveled film actor, a powerful lobbyist lawyer or a well known television journalist? REALLY?

Yes! Top Scientologists really believe in crazy L. Ron Hubbard's sci-fi based militaristic, abusive and looney tunes cult teachings and practices! They really do. What? No? Tom Cruise doesn't believe in the tax exempt church's doctrines and educational materials, sold to thousands of members at high prices every day? Then he and Scions like him at the top are guilty of perpetrating an incredible deception, which includes fraud and unconscionable social abuse in promoting an organization they cynically belong to but don't believe in. Either way, they are participating in the outright victimization of the rank and file Scientology church members who most certainly do believe - and must believe - in Scientology doctrines every single exploited working day of their drone-like lives devoted to the cult of charismatic leader L. Ron Hubbard.

Mind control is very very ugly, and many say it is evil.

Henry Metelman, writing in his memoir "A Hitler Youth" about his own experiences during the rise of Nazism explains how slave labor camps can exist right under the nose of a civilian population without anything being done about it. He writes of 1933, the early period of Hitler's rise and well before war was declared in 1939. "To a larger or lesser degree, the majority of the population was aware that concentration camps had been set up all over the country. Those of my generation that claimed after the war that they knew nothing about them were, in my view avoiding the truth...Whenever the camps were mentioned with (Nazi) Party people present, it was usually explained that it had been the British that had first introduced them into South Africa after the Boer War. I assume that quite a large minority at least had a fair idea what was going on inside of them...But I suspect that few of them, except on the political left, had given much thought to the deeper political implications of the camps." (pg. 80) Scientology as a cult that controls its members in ways that are not very different from Hitler's iron clad control over the everyday speech, activities and goals of German society. Interestingly, Scientology blames psychiatry, not Hitler, for the Holocaust.

PART 5: How John P. Coale Infiltrates Without Anybody Really Noticing

In 1993, the husband-and-wife legal team of Mr. and Mrs. Coale played a small role in Scientology's campaign to take over the Cult Awareness Network, or CAN, an organization that helped people leave Scientology as well as other cults. With the Coale's help, CAN was overwhelmed with lawsuits (a common plantiffs' bar strategy) financed by Scientology, and the organization was actually destroyed and taken over by the cult.

As far back as 1986, Coale attempted to bring Scientology into US politics with a plan that involved forming a PAC to represent it in Washington DC. Apparently, local members and officials of the cult met with Coale and basically talked him out of it. At the time, nobody who was a practicing Scientologist in the nation's capitol wanted the publicity.

Coale's PAC was named the FLAGG PAC (Freedom, Liberty, and Good Government Political Action Committee) and one of its political goals was to end the practice of psychiatry nationwide. This happens to be a cherished goal of L. Ron Hubbard, David Miscavige and Scientology in general. After all, elimination of mental health care would pave the way for Hubbard's diseased mind control cult to brainwash more and more troubled people with little or no resistance from mental health professionals.

FLAGG PAC didn't achieve lift off, but Coale's effort was still a success in another way. The idea had been hatched, and was never given up. Today Scientology run PACs are named CSRPAC, "Citizens for Social Reform" founded in 2001, and FCSR "Florida Citizens for Social Reform" which have identical goals as laid down with the original FLAGG PAC.

John P. Coale clearly wishes to influence politics more directly these days. In 2002, When Greta decided to leave CNN, Coale wrote a rather sour grapes good-bye letter, which the couple assumed CNN would keep private. No love lost there, CNN did not fail to make the letter public. In it John complains that the network failed to gain access and influence in the Bush White House for his wife. Specifically the network failed “to secure an invitation for her to the White House Christmas party, which, Mr. Coale wrote, is an important gathering for forging relationships with administration officials.” One supposes that John P. Coale fully expected to be on the arm of his wife on this occasion, and that he hoped to network and "forge relationships" with White House officials.

In 2006, Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley won the fight for Governor of Maryland in the most expensive gubernatorial battle the state had ever seen. Emerging victorious but a half million dollars in debt he turned to, who else? John P. Coale for a financial bail out. Coale’s reward? In 2008 O’Malley appointed our very own ambulance chasing John P. Coale to the Board of Directors of UMMS, the University of Maryland Medical System, after a dramatic force out of the sitting Chairman and resignation of most of the other board members in protest. That means that the following Maryland psychiatric hospitals will be under the control of John P. Coale, the Scientologist cozy with David Miscavige. Here is a list of the specifically psychiatry related treatment facilities within the University of Maryland Medical System:

Brook Lane Psychiatric CenterClifton T Perkins HospitalPotomac Ridge Behavioral Health CenterRosewood CenterSaint Luke InstituteThe Sheppard & Enoch Pratt HospitalSpring Grove Hospital CenterSpringfield Hospital CenterTaylor Manor Hospital Center

If you have a friend or family member that receives treatment in one of these facilities, you might want to encourage them to review their choices for treatment and go elsewhere. The story is reported in full here.

It is easy to dismiss Scientology's goals as the sort of Bad-Guy-In-A-James-Bond-Film overarching global destruction plot that is eye-rolling silly. However, Scientology takes itself very seriously, and with the help of all those charming public Scientologists you know and hear about every day, including John P. Coale and wife Greta, they really do work steadfastly with all the might of a mind controlled worker-bee population to destroy psychiatry and psychology worldwide - among other things. This is no peripheral agenda. It is a basic drive that sustains and motivates the cult. The "Psychiatry Industry of Death" museum in Los Angeles is just a visible tip of the iceberg of this mostly covert cult agenda. It is an agenda that all Scientologists must participate in fully to the best of their ability. Doing so is a prerequisite to moving up in the cult hierarchy, attaining new levels, having "Up Ethics" and other Scientology cult fueled wet dreams. John P. Coale is definitely subject to these, and is powerful enough to be making them happen "in real life".

Scientology wants to teach the world that psychiatry is actually responsible for everything from the September 11 attacks to the decline of education standards in the US. Scientologists teach that it was "psychiatry" that caused World War I and was the reason behind the rise of Hitler and Stalin. As mentioned earlier, Scientology teaches that psychiatry, not Hitler, is to blame for the Holocaust.

PART 6: How Scientology Infiltrates Without Anybody Really Noticing

"I joined a religion started by a science fiction writer that used a double cross as its symbol, and then they tried to sell me a bridge.....what could have possibly gone wrong?" - Clamicide, ex-Scientology forum member

If you've made it thus far, you might be tempted to skip this section and get to more juicy Palin stuff below. Don't. Although the information in this section is readily available online, I have never seen or heard it discussed much before I came upon it recently. I find it explosive, repugnant and shocking, and I think it should be common knowledge and discussed by every US citizen. Basically, Scientology managed to infiltrate the US government much more recently than its IRS infiltration, and it was Bill Clinton who made it possible. Clinton appeared to advocate for the cult internationally, largely unknown to US citizens. An incident between the US State Department and our ally Germany was sparked over Germany's refusal to allow the United States to pressure it into allowing Scientology to operate freely within their country. This was the US Government that was advocating on Scientology's behalf to an international ally. Germany in no uncertain terms rebuffed the effort. You've got to give the Germans credit - from experience they know a crazy, nihilistic, sadistic and dangerous mind control cult when they see one.

The story below is told in excerpts from the original report from Canadian Sociologist Dr. Kent. The full document may be found here.

It is well known that John P. Coale and his wife, were strong supporters of Democrats, specifically Bill Clinton and later, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi. It was just a year after Clinton took office that the IRS did its famous switcheroo and handed Scientology its tax free status, after battling against exactly this outcome for years. The details of the meeting in which this happened have always seemed strange. Definitely some back room politicking went on. Questions can be raised about whether those who control the copyrights on Hubbard's books at the highest levels are even Scientologists, but instead are highly placed former IRS officials and attorneys.

Germany became wary of Scientology because of its experience with forced labor camps during the Second World War. German officials were particularly concerned to learn about Scientology's operation of its own version of such camps in Europe and America, and forced labor is specifically banned in modern Germany by Article 12 of its constitution.

"In 1997, a German state official raised the issue of the RPF programs on American soil in response to a harsh "open" letter to Chancellor Helmut Kohl that equated the German government's handling of Scientology with Nazis' persecution of Jews prior to World War II. Published as a full page ad in the International Herald Tribune, thirty-four Hollywood personalities signed it, including actors Dustin Hoffman, Goldie Hawn, director Oliver Stone, writer Mario Puzo, and CNN talk show host, Larry King (Boyes 1997). (Afterwards, the film director Constantin Costa-Gavras expressed regret at having given the letter his signature [Reuters 1997]). It turned out that many of the signatories had close ties to prominent Scientology actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta (Whittell 1997). The analogy between the current plight of Scientology in Germany and the fate of Jews during the early days of Hitler proved so offensive that the U.S. State Department immediately denounced it, saying "This is an outrageous charge against the German government by an American group. It bears no resemblance to the facts of what is going on [t]here" (quoted in Boyes 1997)."

"...the incident reveals some of the pitfalls involved with entertainment elites trying to gain entry into an important public debate. They had enough money to purchase exposure in the media, but they did not have sufficient grasp of the issues nor the political wisdom to select appropriate symbols that might have won them support. Indeed, the ill-chosen symbol of Naziism angered German officials (including Kohl himself), and it provided an opening for another German official to respond with a press release that advised, "Instead of sending open letters' to Germany, Hollywood VIPS should express their outrage at Scientology's punitive camps."

"The Bavarian State Minister of the Interior, Dr. Gonther Beckstein, went on to refer to the RPF facilities as "penal colonies" that subjected their inmates to "extreme processes of brainwashing and punishment." Using information that came directly out of an American affidavit by former Scientologist, Andre Tabayoyon, Beckstein mentioned one of the harsh physical punishments that a female inmate supposedly suffered, and described the security system around one California facility that involved a "fence, barriers, floodlights, electronic monitors, hidden microphones, ground sensors, and electronic eyes...." He also mentioned information about "semi-automatic rifles and unregistered weapons" in the Southern California RPF facility. Mockingly, Beckstein mused, "Wouldn't it be great if Mario Puzo wrote a script to a film directed by Oliver Stone, in which Dustin Hoffman and Goldie Hawn starred as two inmates in a Scientology penal colony attempting [t]o escape from their heavily-armed keepers?" (Beckstein 1997; see Tabayoyon 1994). Even though Beckstein gave explicit directions about the location of an RPF facility only about 100 kilometers from Hollywood itself, no indication exists that any American officials took his remarks seriously."

"In summary, as American government officials seemed to side with Scientology, German officials became convinced that their counterparts in the United States simply did not understand the nature of the organization that they were supporting. Most German officials viewed the organization as a either a psychological group or a business being run under a totalitarian ideology whose alleged human rights violations were inimical to the operations of German democracy (see Enquete Commission 1998, 347; St. Paul Pioneer Press 1995). Along these lines, the Americans did not seem to appreciate the requirements placed upon German politicians by their country's constitution and law, which requires a "militant" protection of "the free democratic basic order'" (Kommers 1997, 217, see 510; also see Articles 18 and 20 of Germany's Basic Law). In essence, as one government (the United States) was providing Scientology with important opportunities to expand its resource base, another one (Germany) was severely curtailing the organization's resource acquisition abilities in ways that might have significant implications for the organization's European activities. Germany's curtailment of Scientology became the subject of hearings before the American congressional committee, the Organization [formerly Conference] on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE, also called the Helsinki Commission), and in these hearings Scientology celebrities played prominent roles."

"Chairman of the CSCE, Senator Alfonse D'Amato (R.-N.Y.) who spent much of the day "showing Travolta around the Senate," quipped, "My staff, for the first time, was in early this morning.... They all had cameras. I never saw so many cameras.'" The New York Post printed a picture of D'Amato and Travolta facing each other with D'Amato's right hand clenching Travolta's left bicep, and Travolta's left hand under D'Amato's right arm. Travolta had a noble look on his face, and the photo caption read, "Sen[ator] Al D'Amato yesterday embraces John Travolta, who testified about persecution of Scientologists" (New York Post 1997). Clearly Travolta's celebrity status carried weight, and it served the intended point of getting Scientology's charges against Germany into the American media. That status suggests that even some politicians (not to mention their staff) feel the effects of a "charisma through association."

"Travolta, Hayes, and Corea provided additional complaints to the CSCE about (what they considered to be) discrimination in business affairs. These complaints were against the requirement that individuals and companies sign documents (called sect filters') stating that none of the parties involved followed Scientology practices. Additional complaints were against government-sanctioned "Scientology" labels placed on businesses owned or operated by Scientologists; loss of employment and employment opportunities; denial of business licenses to Scientologists; prohibitions against Scientologists obtaining bank loans; cancellation of Scientology-related bank accounts; movie boycotts (specifically against Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible and Travolta's Phenomenon); and boycotts against patronizing businesses that employ Scientologists."

"Evidence of Scientology's high level State Department contacts came to light in a widely-discussed article about Travolta in "George" magazine....Clinton informed Travolta that "he had a roommate years ago who was a Scientologist and had really liked him, and respected his views on it. He said he felt we were given an unfair hand in [Germany] and that he wanted to fix it" (Ressner 1997). Clinton followed up on this conversation by going "to the extraordinary length of assigning his national security advisor, Sandy Berger, to be the administration's Scientology point person" (J. Young 1998, 138)."

"...the Clinton-arranged meeting [happened] in the context of other actions the American president had taken on behalf of Scientology. For example, the section of the State Department's 1996 human rights report that was harshly critical of Germany's actions towards Scientology "was written by the White House...." Its condemnation was so strong that Secretary of State Madeleine Albright apologized to the German government because of it (American Spectator 1997). French and German authorities also were aware that the December 1996 issue of Scientology's French language publication, éthique & Libertê, published what it called an "Interview exclusive" against drug-use, written by Clinton himself (Clinton 1996). They also took note when Clinton sent Scientology congratulatory greetings on its 50th anniversary (on December 28, 1999), in which he "thanked the church for its work to promote religious tolerance and to build just communities'" (Gerstein 2000). In short, it appears to the Europeans that Clinton was working actively on behalf of the Scientology organization, and that his assistance to the Hollywood Scientology lobbyists was indicative of his general support for the group."

"While in Washington meeting with Berger and presenting before the CSCE, Travolta also spent time lobbying on behalf of a House of Representatives motion that (had it passed) would have put on record its "concern that performers, entertainers, and other artists from the United States who are members of minority religious groups such as Scientology continue to experience discrimination by the German Government" (House of Representatives 1997). Almost certainly introduced after lobbying efforts by Scientology's paid lobbyist, David H. Miller, the resolution gained "support from leaders of House caucuses who advocate on behalf of arts, Hispanics[,] and African Americans" (Dahl 1998a, 14A)."

"Although the resolution cleared the House International Relations Committee, it failed to pass the full House when it went to vote in November. One Representative (Doug Bereuter, R-Neb.) complained, "I think it is important we not have Tom Cruise or John Travolta setting foreign policy in this country and [I] think that is a driving factor behind this legislation" (Dahl 1998a, 14A). The bill suffered defeat at 101 in favor and 318 against (Anonymous 1997), with Amo Houghtin (R-N.Y.) apparently expressing the majority's opinion by concluding, "the issue was whether we do not look just a bit pompous sitting back here with all our many moral problems in this country, to pass judgment on a nation, our friend, which is wrestling with something which we ourselves and other nations are wrestling with'" (quoted in The Virginian-Pilot 1997)."

"The Washington Post carried a small article with a picture of Travolta, stating:

In case you needed reminding that congressmen are shameless groupies, consider the small mob of House members that formed around John Travolta yesterday in the Rayburn Room of the Capitol, just off the House floor. There was jostling, There was staring. There was lining up for photos with the movie star who was on the Hill to meet with lawmakers, including House Speaker Newt Gingrich, on behalf of the Church of Scientology, of which he is a member (Gerhart and Groer 1998, B3)."

"The following year, 1999, Scientology continued its lobbying efforts. When Salmon, along with Representatives Benjamin A. Gilman (R-NY), Mark Foley (R-FL), and Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY), (and others) introduced House and Senate bills calling for the German government "to enter into constructive dialogue with minority groups subject to government discrimination based upon religion or belief," Scientologist Anne Archer was at the press conference (News From the House International Relations Committee 1999, 2)."

Just in case it isn't crystal clear, the above information reveals that largely unbeknownst to the American public, 101 American Congressmen supported a bill that advocated Scientology on German soil, and the use of United States resources to lobby for this end.

Scientology has one modern virtue - it is definitely non-partisan when it comes to rubbing shoulders with high level politicos. The cult will do business with people from any party, at any time. Disgraced Florida Republican Mark Foley (Congressman who legislated against child predators and then was revealed to have solicited minors for sex) had many public ties to the cult, and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush praised the cult. Obama however is said to be unfriendly towards Scientology, which was what reportedly prompted John P. Coale to drop switch sides after Hillary lost the Democratic nomination for President last year and support McCain who was newly energized by his red hot ticket-mate Sarah Palin.

PART 7: Why Sarah Palin, and Sarah Palin, Why?

Which whisks us away from the gilded halls of DC power and into the cold dark vastness of the Alaskan political landscape. Bad Sarah, or The "Little Alaskan General" according to her ardent supporters. is losing ground. Palin's popularity with her constituents is melting faster than an Arctic glacier, and after only 2 years she is already essentially a lame duck in office, unable to get a preferred appointment through or a major bill passed. She is at war with the Alaskan legislature, the media, and continually battling to make any positive mark on the public's awareness, aside from speaking to her stalwart right-to-life base. Her family life, an important character issue for conservative politicians who campaign on family values, is a continual stream of disappointments both publicly and privately.

Palin might prefer to run, or may likely be forced to run, as a third party candidate if she hopes to run for high office. That requires either a personal fortune or supporters with deep pockets as demonstrated by H. Ross Perot in 1996. With high unemployment and a depression looming, and the favor of a likely Third Party candidate that is in sore need of advice and financial backing, could John P. Coale, David Miscavige and Scientology finally be positioned to realize their long nurtured ambitions to infiltrate Washington by backing a contender for President? Could Palin's party, whether Republican or a Third Party splinter group, possibly become the party of Scientology as well?

Palin's supporters are already accused of being robot-like, with little ability to distinguish their single-minded love for Sarah from their unquestioning political support of her policies. The Team Sarah website only allows members of the public to view their materials if they answer a questionnaire correctly and provide a valid phone number in advance of registering with the website - one of the most restrictive and controlling registration policies on the entire internet, and certainly among political sites. Exactly what are Team Sarah members afraid of? Apparently, they nurse a paranoia that they are spied on and can't tolerate dissenting voices within their carefully cultivated "groupthink". They don't even want people who disagree with them to read their posts or know what they are planning.

Rigid control of information, care
fully vetted and screened members whose loyalty to a cause is scrutinized and measured, limitation of access to those who think differently... Team Sarah could very well be the next fertile and receptive bed for Scientologists to sow.

The following are considered common characteristics of cult leaders:

1. GLIBNESS/SUPERFICIAL CHARM
2. MANIPULATIVE AND CONNIVING
3. GRANDIOSE SENSE OF SELF
4. PATHOLOGICAL LYING
5. LACK OF REMORSE, SHAME, GUILT
6. SHALLOW EMOTIONS
7. INCAPACITY FOR LOVE
8. NEED FOR STIMULATION
9. CALLOUSNESS/LACK OF EMPATHY
10. POOR BEHAVIORAL CONTROLS/IMPULSIVE NATURE
11. EARLY BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS
12. IRRESPONSIBILITY/UNRELIABILITY
13. PROMISCUOUS SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR/INFIDELITY
14. LACK OF REALISTIC LIFE PLAN/PARASITIC LIFESTYLE
15. CRIMINAL OR ENTREPRENEURIAL VERSATILITY

Sarah Palin can't be said to definitely possess all of the above traits, and she is not a prolific writer like L. Ron Hubbard or a powerful orator like Hitler. But she could be fairly assessed to carry 12 out of 15 traits listed. Certainly Palin could be a dangerous loose cannon if she ever manages to reach high office with her Apocalyptic religious upbringing intact, a dedicated and powerful Scientologist lawyer backing her up, and a group of supporters who do not tolerate any opposition opinions whatsoever. Palin is a failure as a Governor, but she just might have what it takes to lead a flourishing cult.

On a saner note, it is clearly time for the American public to demand unequivocally that ANY and ALL public officials as well as celebrities become "100% Scientology Free" and pointedly divest themselves of any group that practices mind control, slave labor, and mental and physical abuse regardless of whether or not it has a set of beliefs they find attractive. At this juncture in her career, if Sarah Palin would publicly and emphatically distance herself from John P. Coale and Greta Van Susteren because they are Scientologists, she would gain votes, not lose them.

Who is friendlier to Scientology Cult Aims in Alaska, Sarah Palin, or PsychRights?

After a scant two years of holding an important office Palin is bogged down more law suits and ethics complaints than many politicians gather in an entire career. Thanks to the sleuthing of Palingates blog, we know that one of these lawsuits is PsychRights vs. Alaska. Unfortunately, PsychRights is a name that sounds alarmingly like the kind of name that Scientologists love to come up with. Is a Scientology front group suing Sarah Palin? Turns out, apparently no. In his mission to destroy psychiatry, L. Ron Hubbard co-founded the Citizens Commission On Human Rights (CCHR) with secular humanist and anti-psychiatry activist Thomas Szasz, back in the 60's and well before anyone realized what Scientology was all about. Szasz took a sensible stand against coerced psychiatry, but was not a Scientologist. (However, the cult does use Szasz's writings to further its agenda.)

Apparently, it is possible to be against psychiatric abuses without being a Scientologist and without wishing to wipe the field of psychiatry itself off the planet. It is apparently in this spirit that PsychRights was founded in Alaska and has racked up many successful court cases advocating against over-drugging of children and other psychiatric system failures in the state.

However, Hubbard's old cult front group CCHR is now also active in Alaska. Inevitably, Scientology's CCHR front group has courted and tried to claim affiliation with PsychRights. If they are Scientologists worthy of their cult, they no doubt hoped to infiltrate PsychRights. In a phone call to PsychRights, I confirmed with lawyer Jim Gottstein who runs the non-profit organization that his group is indeed "100% Scientology Free" and he directed me to this statement on PsychRights website:

Statement Regarding Non-Affiliation with Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) December 26, 2006

In the last few weeks the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) has made overtures to PsychRights and even sent out at least one public relations e-mail suggesting PsychRights is working with CCHR. This is not true. While CCHR's efforts in some ways parallels that of PsychRights, there is absolutely no affiliation. Frankly, PsychRights does not need to carry the Scientology baggage that goes along with CCHR and it therefore has determined not to work with or affiliate with it in any way. We do try to be polite, but this is PsychRights' firm policy.

Finally! We found a lawyer in our story who clearly and publicly states that he is not affiliated with Scientology, and absolutely never intends to be. Nor does he intend to allow Scientology to ingratiate itself or buy its way into his non-profit organization, which probably relies heavily on fund raising and outside contributions. Mind-control cult connections? Thanks, but no thanks.

This Alaska non-profit sees the wisdom in taking a stand and making a public statement against even an appearance of having a connection with Scientologists and Scientology. Now I put the question to Alaskan citizens - why can't the Governor of your state put everyone's minds at ease by doing the same thing, and dropping even the suggestion of a connection with Scientologists?

(UPDATE: Since this was written The St. Petersburg Times published a series of extensive articles on physical abuse reported by Scientologists at the hands of David Miscavage, and the culture of routine abuse he promotes within the so-called church as reported by recent high ranking members of the cult who managed to leave. Read about their struggles and stories here.)

UPDATED: Sarah's End Times: Alaskans Can See The End Of Palin's Political Career From Their Homes

Let it ring throughout the land loud and clear – It is the position of Nailinpalinnow that the current Governor of the good people and great state of Alaska will never really recover politically from the last nine days following the Ides of March this year, 2009. Last week will be remembered as the first real tipping point, a turning point, and as the moment a certain critical mass was reached - Palin’s lack of fitness for public office was in the very air, humming online, and just about everywhere there was any news at all.

Was it a natural slide off of her slipping approval ratings in Alaska, and some really bad feelings from big business? – that's always hard on a Republican, but recoverable. Was it Palin's appeal to the populace to help pay for her court battles? – a real turn-off at a time of economic hardship – or was it that she asked for this legal bail-out even as she denied funds to Alaskans for food and education – OUCH – or perhaps it was the foolhardy
spending on paratrooper-style animal eradication tactics and her hopes of eliminating 60% of all black bears in Alaska? Gassing wolf puppies? – or was it her flip-flopping on every issue that was brought up all week long? - Perhaps it was the revelation that she was already polling in Iowa and New Hampshire for her cherished Presidential aspirations? – or was it the confirmation that she won’t give a media interview unless it’s guaranteed to be favorable? Maybe, but some people were just plain turned off when it became public that she's cosy with Scientologists - Lord Xenu meets the Apostolic End Times is just too wacko for the average Alaskan earthling, thanks. Even Palin's most devoted base doesn’t quite know what to do with the cult connection - a cult popularized by liberal Hollywood celebrities that forces abortions on some high ranking female members (don't bother bringing up forced labor, mind control or Ponzi schemes, which might just be okay with avid Palin supporters).

And yes there’s even more, another answerable ethics complaint, and a new scandal around her use of money to attend religous events. And there always will be more, much more with Sarah, formerly a beauty queen runner-up, formerly a mayor of a small town who declared “I can do whatever I want, until the courts tell me I can’t”, and formerly a politician with a future.

Enough people and canines in Palin’s state, in the lower 48 and abroad now realize that Bad Sarah Palin really is unfit for public office, is not a stable political entity, and most probably won’t pull off retaining her Governorship in a second election, much less remain politically viable over time as a candidate for high office. It's becoming increasingly clear that Palin is going to be doing well if she can just remain in elected office for the last 586 days or so she has left as Governor. Let's put it this way - if there was a Dow Jones stock in Alaskan pitchforks, I'd be buying it. As one wag put it last weekend, “When rednecks in Alaskan bars are fed up and grumbling about Palin, you know she’s in trouble.”

And has there ever in history been a dying Queen graced by a Court of such crashingly bad advisors? Empress Alexandra and Rasputin come to mind, so Sarah definitely gets runner-up position in that contest as well. There is no need for anyone who has seen the danger of a future W. Bush (or worse) in Palin to become complacent. But these days spring is in the Alaskan air, an effective protest can come together in a matter of hours, and there is a lot of comfort in the old truism, “give her enough rope and she'll hang herself.”

Here’s a roundup of the last nine days of events with links:

The Ides of March - usually the 15th

Monday - 16th

Portfolio's Damming Article On Palin's Business Sense - Pipe Dreams

Sunday - 22nd

Mr. Redoubt gives signs of exploding after 20 years of silence. Online newspapers go wild with people who have never commented before, dissatisfaction, outrage and even some name calling. Bowing To Pressure From Public and Lawmakers Palin Backtracks on Stimulus Money, As reported on Mudflats, the frightened “Team Sarah” website hunkers down, and instigates a vigorous screening process that requires a phone number to join, in order to keep "spies" out.

Monday - 23rd

Another Ethics Problem regarding Palin's Use of Public Funds to Attend Religious Events surfaces.
Tuesday- 24th

The Arctic Cat Ethics Case Is Filed Against Palin who Accepts Sponsorship Money to Advertise A Favored Corporation In Her Role As Governor, Palin Posts An Embarrassing "Unfiltered" Response on the State Of Alaska Website, while Mt. Redoubt Lava Breaches Containment Near A Set of Chevron Oil Tanks.

UPDATE: The incredible chain of events just keeps piling on. Palin is, at this point an unloosed cannon firing at anything and everything in her line of sight. My sense that her days are numbered is only strengthened by the ongoing events, and her incredible responses.

Wednesday - 25th

Palin's Insult to the McCain camp angers former McCain staffers, is called "bizarre" on CNN in video that went viral and then got taken down, and gets legs in the media, with a sense on the national level now that Palin is not taking good advice and gets none at home.

Thursday - 26th

Was it a strange display of chaotic mismanagement, or simply another snit fit by Bad Sarah who wasn't getting her way on the Stimulus with the Alaska Legislature? Palin apparently lies in a press release, stating that Legislators cancelled a scheduled meeting on the stimulus money. Palin's stays away from Stimulus meetings to hold a press conference for her new Attorney General Wayne Anthony Ross - a staunch advocate of reducing subsistence rights for Alaska Natives in favor of white weekend game hunters - in a move considered the final straw for Native Alaskans. Palin supporters on the Team Sarah website call for the head of the citizen and blogger who filed the Arctic Cat ethics complaint. Fox News threaten to ambush the blogger with a camera crew and the stalking, internet crashing, email bashing and insults (really really ugly) become overwhelming as open season is declared on the person of Celitc Diva.

Friday - 27th

"Another day, another Palin Lawsuit" as Palingates put it - "Palin Refused To Honor Junteenth Proclomation" is now an issue for the courts of Alaska - this is not an ethics violation, but a court case that has been reviewed and found not to be frivolous. Bloomberg reports that the Gov. faces a record $1.3 billion deficit in next year’s budget, while the state just lost 1.5 billion from their "rainy day fund" through stock market speculation. Palin refuses to comment. Famed liberal political blogger "AKMuckraker" is outed against her wishes raising 1st Amendment issues in Alaska. The Legislature is outspoken in their criticism of Palin. On Friday, Trustees for Alaska, a public interest law firm, formally petitions the governor to remember her duties and powers to declare a disaster by the six million gallons of oil in the Drift River storage facility at the bottom of erupting Mt. Redoubt. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, by a vote of 32-3, the Alaska's House of Representatives approved a resolution accepting any of the $930 million that Palin does not request.

Saturday - 28th

7 protesters show up to picket Palin's Wildlife Jihad at the Governor's own Annual Prayer Breakfast, which doesn't sound like many, but isn't bad when you consider that Palin didn't bother to show up at all.

Sunday - 29th

Refusing to rest on the Lord's Day, Palin appoints Tim Grussendorf to a state Senate seat that requires a Democrat under state law. Tim was a registered Republican until just weeks before the appointment, and claims he was registered as a Republican "by mistake." Democrats in the Senate want to block the appointment, while Alaskan lawmakers are critical of Palin, her confused aides, and her actions on many, many fronts, and John McCain gives Palin's political career the proverbial kiss of death on Meet the Press.

Best Political Slogans Of The Stimulus Protest:

-Hey Sarah! I Can See The End Of Your Political Career From My House!

-It’s Getting Crowded Under The Bus- (with all kinds of public interest programs listed under a bus)

Take Direct Action NOW To Fight Palin's Jihad On Wildlife

"...a jihad against black bears by paramilitary groups" is what Alaskan Board of Game member Ben Grussendorf called some of the recent proposals to kill, cull, gas, trap and exterminate large percentages of Alaskan wildlife in their native habitat - and he wasn't even particularly against it! The news is all over the place, no further pixels need to be splashed around here describing Palin's Jihad On Wildlife. What is needed is action. Big actions, little actions, any action at all, if taken by each and every one of us, will get results! Here is info gathered from commentors and websites everywhere on what you can do to become more informed, educate others, and take some direct action right from your own home against Palin's Jihad.

1. RESPOND to those who say that "liberals and lower 48ers don't understand that wolves are opportunistic killers that must be stopped" -The following video blasts Palin's justifications for Alaska's current aerial wolf hunting program.

http://current.com/items/88811075/end_aerial_wolf_hunting.htm

Using testimony from Alaska Department of Fish & Game staff, a master hunting guide, and Board of Game members, the video exposes the fallacy behind Governor Sarah Palin's claim that predator control is based on sound science and is for the benefit of subsistence hunters. Sport and trophy hunters take up to 73% of prey in areas where aerial wolf hunting has taken place. Five years in the making, this video exposes the truth about the stranglehold the hunting lobby has on wildlife management in Alaska.

A shorter version of the video can be seen here: http://current.com/items/88820228/end_aerial_wolf_hunting_short_version.htm

Trophy hunt prices in Alaska, provided by Palingates website:

Day hunt for a single species:
Moose $10,500, Grizzly Bear $8,500, Brown Bear $12,500

Combination hunts (add the species above to the species price below)
Black bear $2,500, Wolf $750
Trophy Fee on Grizzly Bear $9,750, Moose $9,450, Caribou $6,800.

These prices are in addition to the $19,500 all inclusive fees (licenses, air charter, G.S.T. and meat flight) for the hunt.

2. MAKE A PHONE CALL - it's easy, you do it every day, all the time. Dial the US Fish & Wildlife Service & comment on the de-listing of the Grey Wolf from the Endangered Species Act, decry the "collateral damage" to brown bears that will occur because Alaska has decided to kill 60% of the population of black bears. Mention the fisheries crises and overfishing which hurts rural village food supplies, mention that Beluga Whales in Cook Inlet need protection from Palin's toxic dumping and drilling policies. CALL the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service M-F 8am - 8pm at 1-800-344-9453, select option “3” (for endangered species) and hit “0” to speak with the operator. Make your voice heard. Now is the time, not later. Pass this number on. Ask at least one good friend or love of your life who otherwise wouldn't think of it to call as a favor to you.

3. EMAIL SARAH PALIN! She wants to hear your opinions, so tell her what you think. Don't insult her, just try to get Palin's Jihad called off.

http://gov.state.ak.us/govmail.php

4. READ ON - be armed with facts, so that reasonable discourse may take place with friends, relatives and co-workers who feel differently about the issue or don't care.

5. CONTRIBUTE

Who will defend Alaska’s beleaguered wildlife? That’s the mission of the Alaska Wildlife Alliance. But we can’t fulfill our mission without your help - we are in this together!

Alaska’s wildlife is depending on your
contribution of $35, $50, $100 or more.

6. BECOME AN ACTIVIST, START A PROTEST, OR MEET WITH AN OFFICIAL, WRITE AN EDITORIAL...

7. ADOPT A POLAR BEAR Right Here

Yes, the polar bears still really need all of us to care enough to protect them from trophy hunting, drilling and loss of their habitat.
  • Stop Congress from handing the sanctuary of America's vanishing polar bears over to Big Oil and fight for permanent protection for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge by passing the Udall-Eisenhower Wilderness Act.
  • Pass the Global Warming Wildlife Survival Act to help polar bears survive the impacts of climate change.
  • Fight Safari Club International in court to prevent wealthy hunters from killing Canadian polar bears and bringing their heads, paws and furs back to the U.S. as trophies.

8. COMMENT! Please leave further info here on letter writing campaigns, protests, websites, anything that you hear about that takes direct action of some kind against Palin's Jihad.

More Alaskan Horror Stories: Promotion-gate, Pension-gate, and Prison-gate

So the young, strong, independent and oh-so-fierce love between Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston, was...pretty much a big campaign lie, and the breakup is nasty, with yet another person close to Sarah losing respect for BS as time has passed. Palin's official bio "Trailblazer" offers supporting evidence that Bad Sarah lied about being Trig's mother, BS's omni-present youngest Piper never seems to attend school, and the Shadow Gov hubby Todd must always wonder along with us, "Did my best buddy take a test ride on my wife?"

What would Aaron Spelling call "The Palin Reality Show"? Palin Place? Palin 99801?

It's not news that Palin can't manage her own house. What's important is that Alaska's house under her leadership is in disorder, disrepair - just plain dissed, really. Since this blog serves as a monument to Palin's essential lack of fitness to hold public office, much of what is reported here isn't breaking news, simply because The avalanche of incompetence that defines Palin defies digestion on a daily basis. Most of it gets lost in the shuffle. Even after absorbing as much news as possible during the '08 election, we are all still finding stories on BS that were under-reported or are simply worth a closer look now. New or old, as long as it has to do with the mismanagement, misuse and abuse of the elected office which Palin still holds in defiance of both natural and man made laws, then it has a place here.

The scandal plagued home life of Palin is the bright side of the story. The other side is the one that so many Palin supporters refuse to look at - the shadow side of Palin's public life. Promotion-gate appears to have a shiny happy ending at first, but it involves the effective corruption of a military man who spoke the truth, then gave in to temptation. Palin in her temptress mode offered a fat prize for this man's personal sell out. And it had to be that way, because Major General Craig Campbell, Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard couldn't really be gotten rid of or silenced any other way. The military man in question started off by telling the Associated Press in no uncertain terms that Palin as Governor had nothing to do with deploying or commanding Alaska's National Guard. This was a big problem for the Republican vote getting machine which was busily propping up and hyping Palin's pretend role as commander-in-chief of the Alaska Guard. After explaining to the press in crisp military terms a couple of times that the GOP's description of Bad Sarah as a commander was pure bunk, Major Campbell mysteriously changed his tune all of the sudden - and got a big fat promotion just two days later. "The adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard and commissioner of the Department of Military & Veterans Affairs, received his third star, signifying Governor Sarah Palin’s support of the Guard and her commitment to reinforcing the cooperation between federal and state military assets."

Whoopie! Just for appearing on Fox News and saying "National Guards are state military forces run by governors, and Sarah Palin does it great" in complete contradiction to his statements just days earlier, savvy Campbell didn't just move up to the top of Alaska's chain of command, he became one of the two highest-ranking state National Guard officials in the country.

Don't ya just love the smell of moose-dung in the morning?

Aside from peddling promotions for personal gain, there are other severe problems with the National Guard under Palin's watch. Basically, the Veteran's For America (VFA) watchdog group conducted their own study of Alaska's National Guard which began before Bad Sarah was lifted into the limelight last fall. Their conclusions were dismal. They found that Alaska's Guard under Palin is the least prepared in the entire nation to handle the rigors of pre and post deployment demands on soldiers and their families, and recommended that they not be deployed at all until these deficiencies were addressed. They made specific suggestions for Palin that fall within her realm of responsibilities. To date there are still no reports that Alaska's National Guard troops are getting the services and medical assistance that they are sorely lacking under Palin's "mom-in-chief" guidance - not such a great leadership record for a woman who is willing to go to war at the drop of a hat for certain causes. Oh, but these troops did get a shiny new military leader in Campbell and a band playing at his big promotion! They don't call these high ranking military guys "brass" for nothing, do they?

Pension-gate is just a tiny, little story about how as Mayor of Wasilla Bad Sarah lost 25-50% of the city's pension funds over the course of her term. "For example, when Sarah Palin became mayor of the village of Wasilla, the village’s pension funds were healthy - funded at 97.5 percent of its obligation, with just a 4.3 percent unfunded liability (measured as a percentage of payroll). By 2002, however, Wasilla’s pension funds were in a shambles. The funding of the village’s pension obligations had dropped dramatically to just 73 percent, and the unfunded pension liability Wasilla faced had risen to 52 percent." It's a tiny, wee tale - unless you are a worker whose retirement fund got squeezed out from under your nose because Palin's breed of "fiscal conservatism" was allowed to roam unleashed where you kept your money.

Here's where the tales turn really nasty, uncovering all kinds of festering wounds in Alaska's prison system under Bad Sarah. This is hardly surprising, since with her usual flair for flagrant cronyism, Palin took office and picked a high school buddy of hers to run Alaska's prison system - and run it into the ground he did. For the first time ever Alaskan prison guards - who can't exactly be a bunch of delicate flowers - revolted at the conditions they have to work under because of the poor management of the Department of Corrections under Palin's buddy Joe The Plumber, sorry, Joe Schmidt. In this revolt, the guards specifically placed the responsibility for diseased working conditions and the use of "phantom" guards on Joe's policies, and they held a vote - the first in Alaskan penal history - in which the overwhelming majority of corrections officers declared "No Confidence" in Joe's leadership. Then they appealed to their Governor to please hear them out. BS did absolutely nothing but ignore, belittle and demean the grievances of some 500 prison guards (out of a total of 733), calling them all just a bunch of "disgruntled employees". To add insult to injury, it is Palin's stated belief that this very Joe Schmidt should be the one to assume the mantel of power as Governor of Alaska should anything happen to herself or the lieutenant governor.

There are more twists and turns to prison-gate, but the worst part is the brutal three day rape of a prisoner, who was then treated for verifiable injuries, but denied the extensive therapy that even the State Troopers thought he needed. He filed a civil lawsuit against Palin, who took a page out of Rove's playbook and simply actively ignored the lawsuit. And the courts played a little dirty trick on him, to make his lawsuit go away. Abuses might happen in prison, but we'll go out on a limb here and assert that three day ongoing prisoner-on-prisoner rapes are uncommon anywhere. Even in countries with notorious human rights violations, some shred of humanity may be retained. But not in Alaska, at least not for this man. The total torture and dehumanization of this prisoner, who was being held awaiting trial on suspicion of second degree theft, is a nasty and ghoulish horror story beyond the pale, but not beyond the Palin.

Prison-gate is a story that was recently broken by the investigators at Palingates. The details may be found here.

Arctic Wildlife Dying In Area The Size Of Arizona

Straight from Mother Jones -

Polar bears, walruses, seals, whales and ocean-going birds like eider ducks and loons call the Arctic Ocean home. Their survival in an environment seemingly so inhospitable is a wonder of nature. But as climate change continues unabated, these creatures – already facing a harsh environment – become some of the most vulnerable on earth.

Incredibly, their plight may get worse, as the Minerals Management Service (MMS) considers offering 73 million acres of Arctic waters to oil and gas leasing. That's an area the size of Arizona.

It's critically important that you speak out in defense of these creatures.

The receding ice cap has made it harder for the animals – marine and land-based – to get around and find food, including the polar bears that hunt and mate here each year, and the Pacific walruses that live here year round. In fact, 90 percent of the entire Pacific walrus population can be found in these waters.

But not just wildlife is at stake. Wholesale leasing in this area would endanger the centuries-old way of life of Native communities, whose very culture centers on wildlife and ecosystem integrity.

Please click here to tell the MMS to halt new leases in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas.

There is simply no safe way to drill in these waters. Studies have shown that even seismic testing of potential drilling sites is known to have an impact on marine animals' habits and lifecycles. And research conducted by the MMS indicates that with extensive drilling, small crude oil and other petroleum spills are inevitable. MMS predicts a 40% chance of a large spill. Making matters worse, the technology to clean up a spill in icy Arctic waters doesn't even exist.

We need science to guide decisions with such long-lasting effects, not pressure from the oil and gas industry. Until there is scientific evidence that drilling won't harm wildlife, all new oil leases should be taken off the table.

Write the MMS today to ask that they halt all new leases until the science on drilling is in.

Palin begins Proto-Fascist Campaign to Move Rural Workers Into The Big Oil Economy

National Socialism - what exactly is that? National Socialism propagandizes and promotes uniting the working class of a specific ethnic, national, or racial group into a proletariat - lower class worker society - while socializing industry through the State. So In Alaska's case the worker class would be the Native rural Alaskans. The socialized industry is of course Big Oil, which the state of Alaska is already dependent on for most of it's budget - along with big money from the federal government. It is well documented that Alaska is already the most socialist state in the union under Palin.

The following is by Writing Raven, a Tlingit/Athabascan woman, from her blog
alaskareal.blogspot.com. Writing Raven speaks up regarding Palin's recent photo op trip to rural Alaska, in which she offers exactly one solution to the people who's native waters have been overfished by commercial fishermen. Her ill-considered policy statements seem to be void of any understanding or background knowledge of the issues or the people involved. It almost sounds like Palin wants to piss people off.

But the reality is, Palin knows exactly what she wants.

She wants hungry people to hear that they have no choice but to leave home and work for wages for the big companies that pump oil, and pay big dividends to the state. A sort of National Socialist agenda that perfectly represents why Palin is not a person that should hold public office in the land of the free.

"This post could have easily been titled, "The point at which I lose it."

"When I read, and watched, the remarks Sarah Palin made about rural issues to the Kyle Hopkinns of the Anchorage Daily News, I nearly punched the screen. I had to leave my laptop and go

fume for many, many hours - talking (venting) with my parents and grandmother and even brother - before I could return and be relatively sure I would not toss my innocent little laptop into the snow for being the bearer of bad news. Even then I couldn't trust myself to post without liberal use of curse words, which I usually try to avoid.

What got me into this murderous, computer-killing rage? Please read Mudflats and The Immoral Minority for more detail, but let me try and summarize some of Ms. Palin's points as she answered questions:
  • Palin thinks youth need to consider leaving the villages.
"Another purpose of the trip today, is not just delivering food for a short-term solution, but to remind those, especially young people, in rural Alaska of the job opportunities that are available, albeit it requires in some cases leaving the village for a short time."

This one is what really infuriated me. The Native people of Alaska have been fighting and fighting for generations to ensure rural communities thrive, thinking up solutions to get especially the young people to stay and contribute to the community. The boarding school times in which young people left "for a short time" were some of the most devastating to these communities. Did we learn nothing about what this kind of thinking leads to? Is there no thought to a real future? Palin shows a lack of the study of Alaskan and American history. So much time and energy trying to salvage these towns and villages from social and economic collapse, and the governor of our state can sweep them aside with one ignorant comment.

What these communities need is infrastructure, jobs in the communities themselves. Ironically, I just got a look at the Indian country provisions in the stimulus bill, and was thinking how forward we've come in our look at what Native communities really need. Maia of Own the Sidewalk forwarded me a link to a National Congress of American Indians page devoted to the Indian country provisions of the stimulus bill. I haven't been talking about the stimulus package because the last thing anyone wants is me commenting on anything to do with money. But I was incredibly impressed with the funding set aside for Native country projects.

Basically, it's all about infrastructure in these communities. Energy projects, building projects, roads and weatherization. Things that will not only create jobs and a viable economy in the short term, but ensure a future community exists at all. I don't know about the rest of the stimulus, but in this, they've got it dead on. Why are the only solutions Palin talks about all about getting out of the community? Helping out the oil companies? She throws out something about becoming VPSO's or teachers in your own community - but how can they when the whole youth of the village is now set on leaving? There's no one left to police or teach.
  • Palin's reminder to villages: We're in a cash-based society now.
"because it is a cash-based society right now..." "but in a cash-based society..." "...let people know perhaps what their own experience has been in terms of finding success and being a part of the community, at the same time, having income -- there’s nothing wrong with that."

Does she think the village people are trading beads? Seriously, the amount of times Palin talks down to rural people in these remarks is nauseating. Attention Palin: The people of rural Alaska are INCREDIBLY aware that we are living in a cash-based society! My guess is more aware than Palin. What little money is trickling in has not been spent on Neiman Marcus clothing and $60 phone calls. THERE IS NO INFRASTRUCTURE = THERE ARE NO JOBS.

Regardless of the governor's solution to have the youth leave and find jobs, maybe even a better solution is to get the state working on a viable plan of creating jobs in the community. If we had a little leadership, Alaska could be the most forward, technological marvel of how to get both energy solutions and indigenous populations working to better, not only the state, but the nation. The resources out in rural Alaska are incredible, and instead of promoting that, we are currently squandering it and giving it away. In this case, the human resources are being encouraged to leave.
  • As our leader, Palin is not going to make an example of what to do in this situation.
"It’s a scripture that says, 'let not your right hand know what your left hand is doing.' If you’re going to do a personal charitable effort ... what we do personally to support and tithe and offer assistance to some of these missions, I’m going to keep that to myself."

This comes right after she's chastised the leadership of these communities to do a better job of making an example of themselves. The inability of this governor to not practice what she preaches continues to astound me. Why invite all these reporters to see you off, handing out food, if it's not to show them how "you" are helping? The only possible way I can read this is, "I didn't do anything, so don't ask."
  • Palin learned about this situation from the media, not from actually listening to the people of her state.
(Lt. Gov. Parnell) "Frankly, the first weekend that this particular regional hardship hit the web from Emmonak, both the governor and I tried to get our there and we were hampered due to weather."

I will say it again - this problem did not just spring up six weeks ago. Not only has this been generations in the making, the whole last year Native leaders, state leaders, corporations, people in the communities have been speaking out, warning about this, and even asking for help before it "hit the web." I've posted this before, but I want to reiterate how far in advance the governor had to prepare for this, and did nothing:

-In May, the Bristol Bay Times reported on rural residents calling for emergency relief and to declare an energy disaster.
-In early August, the Anchorage Daily News reported prominent Native leaders directly talking to Paling about these problems, and the solutions that including building infrastructure.
-In early August, even USA Today noticed the problem and reported on it, referencing data showing just how bad it could get from a study done in May.
-In late August, Sen. Murkowksi held a meeting about the crisis, and urged residents to stay in their communities (report by ADN).
"I urge you not to give up your way of life, your culture and your connection to the land and move into urban areas. We will find a creative way to beat this," she told Bethel residents...
-In September, Sen. Begich (then Mayor) and Anchorage School Superintendent sent a letter to Palin (from ADN) regarding the migration from villages to the city due to high energy costs. Palin refuted high energy costs had anything to do with it, later.
-In October, Native leaders continued their call for an energy emergency declared at the Alaska Federation of Natives convention (reported by the ADN). Of course, Palin was busy campaigning and may not have noticed.
-In November, Indian Country Today did a story highlighting the Alaska Federation of Natives resolution to the energy crisis and village migration, as well as the incredibly poor response from Palin.
-In late December, Indian Country Today reported on the dismal reaction of the Palin administration energy crisis, focusing on the rural subcabinet formed.
"The Rural Subcabinet formed by Governor Sarah Palin in response to what many consider a crisis in rural Alaska has reportedly met, but specific information about their activities has been difficult to find..." "The group has no fixed meeting time and the date of their next meeting is unknown." "...As of Dec. 8, the AFN had apparently heard nothing about actions or meetings of the subcabinet..."
Of course, this is only in recent months. This stuff goes back years, as far as addressing the real problems. Not to mention the other villages that have had true emergencies, including Adak. Once again, I point to the Alaska Native Commission Report done in the 90's that point out both problem and solution. Palin should think about reading it.
  • Palin blames the villages for the problem, not the policies, restrictions and initiatives she can do anything about. So don't ask.
"Some of these areas … they may need to see some change in leadership within the community, also." "...And in some of the communities I would say that perhaps new leadership would help provide solutions."

After stewing all night, I woke up this morning to a phone call from Celtic Diva. She and Mudflats pointed to an article in the Alaska Dispatch, praising Palin for "speaking from the heart" and being "thoughtful" about solutions for the communities.

You can only be thoughtful if you've met with the people from the communities and listened to them. Palin is calling for a change in leadership - with who? What are these leaders doing wrong? Who are they? When has she talked to them? And she gave NO solutions except to say these youth should think about leaving. So the solution is "leave the village"? She can't be a spark to "real dialogue" when she's never taken part in a dialogue! The dialogue has been going on, but Palin doesn't care to be part of it...

...Once again, Palin offered no solutions to these problems. She talks about them getting jobs, but not about training, or the availability of them. Does she think every Native youth has a father on the slope and the governor willing to write a letter of recommendation to get them that job? It's really not that easy. It also displays an incredibly poor grasp of the situation. Some of these families are paying $2,500 a month just for their oil. Getting a job on the slope doesn't fix that problem, and it will continue to be a problem.

Again, she shows us she hasn't really looked at the situation. One of the men who sent a letter from a village just after Nick Tucker's letter was brilliant in displaying what they are trying. From Kongiganak, he talks about three projects that have the potential to help out the community. Yet:
The school project, AMI, told us that they will hire only 10 people from our village and the rest will come from the lower 48...about 20 out of state workers. We have many certified carpenters, welders, plumbers, electricians, and equipment operators that only a handful will work in these projects. What is wrong with this? Our legislators say that these projects are supposed to give our villages jobs and the people from Alaska.
Despite Palin's assertions that this is not the governments problem, this has everything to do with government. Lack of support for energy projects, restrictions on subsistence, laws about fisheries and over-fishing... The short-term problem is hungry kids and no heat. But the short-term problem could have been avoided completely by addressing these long-term solutions that Palin has been unwilling to even look at, much less be part of a dialogue about."

When Bad Sarah tells the tale of her husband Todd growing up in his "fishing village" and then having to leave to go work on the North Slope and big oil to support his family, (which has turned out to be another lie) she mouths this prepared parable as if she were coaching small children through a Sunday School lesson, reflecting her condescending view of Alaska's native population.

Bad Sarah says, "Government can't be the entire solution." Yet she is now asking for more money for Alaska from the government than is being offered to her in the stimulus bill. Is this position complete hypocrisy? Or just targeted propaganda to make her consituency believe she is not all about big, big and even bigger government.

So the Palinista National Socialist Alaska works like this - villagers are urged/forced off their land and from their homes and families to work for Big Oil, which conducts business only by the grace of The State which it supports. The State which pays Bad Sarah and supports her large family which she keeps close to her and comfortable in two mansions, with plenty of perks.

Palin is not well-informed about the world. Her political style is more sledge hammer than savvy. But she knows where her bread is buttered - big oil AND big government. She is building a national socialist state in Alaska. This is a politician that only extreme religious fanatics and proto-fascists want to see unleashed on the rest of America, and the world.

The Big Red Fairy Tale - "Palin Will Be Our New Reagan"

Fairy tales can be fascinating, even for grown-ups. Even though we know what's coming, we allow ourselves to lose touch with reality, escaping into a yarn where there is always a hero, a lovely damsel in distress, an epic journey, daunting tasks, and somewhere along the way, the embodiment of Pure Evil will be slayed in a mighty battle. The hero and damsel are united in a kiss and head off into the sunset.

And here we have in a nutshell the communal tale buzzing through the noggins of some of the most wistful members of the Republican party. In this version, the lovely damsel Bad Sarah is lifted up by the hero Reagan. His kiss anoints her, giving her the power to battle against the Pure Evil of government programs, reproductive rights and high school science classes. A collective sigh of romance and relief rises to the heavens from the GOP as these two clasp hands and walk into the glorious sunset of history - together forever.

Like all good fairy tales, this one is pure fiction. This tale doesn't have enough basis in fact to even be called a legend.

Let's begin with the hero's story. In "Reagan's Liberal Legacy: What the New Literature On the Gipper Won't Tell You" Joshua Green, editor of Washington Monthly, takes on the Reagan myth machine - a cynical enterprise powered up by Republican think tanks just before Reagan's death. It's goals? 1) To manufacture a gauzy "legacy" of Reagan that is politically expedient. 2) To hard sell this "Reagan Brand" of conservatism to disillusioned Republicans and to the next generation of voters, who weren't there and don't know any better.

"A sober review of Reagan's presidency doesn't yield the seamlessly conservative record being peddled today. Federal government expanded on his watch. The conservative desire to outlaw abortion was never seriously pursued. Reagan broke with the hardliners in his administration and compromised with the Soviets on arms control. His assault on entitlements never materialized; instead he saved Social Security in 1983. And he repeatedly ignored the fundamental conservative dogma that taxes should never be raised."

Are conservatives honest about Reagan's real record, even to themselves? Not so much.

"If you believe, as conservatives now do, that raising taxes is always wrong, then it's hard to admit that Reagan himself did so repeatedly. If you argue that the relative tax burden on low-income workers is too light, as the Bush administration does, then it does not pay to dwell on the fact that Reagan himself helped lighten that burden. If you insist, as many hardliners now do, that America is dangerously soft on communist China, then it is best to ignore Reagan's own softening toward the Soviet Union. As with other conservative media efforts--Rush Limbaugh, Fox News Channel, The Washington Times-- the purpose of the Reagan legacy project is not to deliver accuracy, but enhance political leverage."

So how does BS Palin actually fit in here? How exactly can she be "our new Reagan," so fondly, so zealously embraced by the most vocal faction of the Big Red Elephant...?

Reagan - Known as The Great Communicator.
Palin - Not so much.

Reagan - A Two-Term Governor before he ever considered running for President. Years of experience still counted in the '80s.
Palin - Not so much.

Reagan - Was defeated in two attempts at the Republican nomination for President almost 10 years apart, but managed to remain viable as a candidate over a long period of time - 1968 to 1980.
Palin - Not so much.

Reagan - Was a coalition builder, welding together supply-side economists, libertarians, foreign policy hawks, big business and religious conservatives.
Palin - Big business, economists, libertarians, prominent military and high profile Republicans actually fled the Republican party in mutual public horror after the initial shock of Palin's elevation to '08 Vice Presidential candidate really sank in. So again - Not so much.

Reagan - The Teflon President, so named because the media and Reagan had a well known mutual love affair. Reagan could get into sticky situations and emerge unscathed in the press.
Palin - No surprises here - Not so much.

Reagan - Epidemic of scandals erupted around him only after successfully gaining the Presidency.
Palin - All together now - Not So Much!

Reagan - Actively used astrology to time his speeches and appearances.
Palin - So far no record of this. Maybe BS should take a cue from Mr. Reagan here.

Reagan - Called his life partner "Mommy".
Palin - So far no record of this. But for the right donation to SarahPAC, she probably would.

Reagan - A charming and engaging smile - never short on enthusiasm.
Palin - Ah, we found something.

Reagan - "He demonstrated for all to see how far you can go in this life with a smile, a shoeshine, and the nerve to put your own spin on the facts." - David Nyhan, The Boston Globe. "A superficial, disengaged, intellectually-lazy showman who didn't do his homework and clung to a naive, unrealistic, and essentially dangerous worldview. Foreign leaders have said they were appalled by Reagan's lack of knowledge of the issues." Who said this? Some liberal pundit? Nope. This was fellow Republican President Gerald Ford's view of Reagan.
Palin - Yep. And Bingo.

Reagan - Reagan was, in the end, a peacenik. "But no one shared, or even understood until late in the game, Reagan's desire for total disarmament. Hardliners like Patrick Buchanan, Richard Perle, and Caspar Weinberger reacted in horror to the very idea of engaging the Soviets in such talks, warning against the "grand illusion" of peace. "My dream," he later wrote in his memoirs, "became a world free of nuclear weapons." This vision stemmed from the president's belief that the biblical account of Armageddon prophesied nuclear war--and that apocalypse could be averted if everyone, especially the Soviets, eliminated nuclear weapons."
Palin - What? Sarah Palin and savvy Reagan share certain literal interpretations of The Bible? Now we are really getting somewhere!... Except for the peace part, of course. And The Apocalypse part. You see, Bad Sarah's very own church congregation believes wholeheartedly that The Apocalypse is inevitable, not preventable, like Reagan did. Since she was a child Sarah has been taught that Israel will start the End Times rolling by initiating a war in the Mideast. Hence BS continually repeats that she "supports a strong Israel" in her interviews. This phrase is her clarion call to her Evangelical Right wing supporters - the Republican "base" as they are also referred to. Some of this base trains youngsters to partake in "spiritual warfare" on behalf of Jesus, who will "make war on everything that hinders love, with his eyes blazing fire." Some of this base is set on spiritual world domination, through the political process of electing Sarah Palin to high office. She is their biblical Queen Esther, who conveniently was also a beauty queen in her day.

Meanwhile, back at The Apocalypse according to Palin's church...Israel is slaughtering their enemies, who happen to all be "non-believers" (including the Pope). The church members are both killing and converting people, whichever seems best at the moment. At some point in the bloody mess, Christ is cued and finally returns to earth. Literally - in the sky, with angels and chosen believers rising up to be with him. Naturally, the Wasilla Bible Church Congregation are leading all the saved people skyward, who pretty much have to be Republicans (who voted for Palin). And the cymbals will clash, and the war machines will grind to a halt, and the last ruby sunset will be seen on earth as the believers wing their way bodily through the air into the believer's Paradise.

The Jews of Israel, who really should be given a "Get Out Of Hell Free" card for getting the ball rolling and doing a lot of the slaughtering-of-infidel work in this scenario will unfortunately all be killed and dammed to Christian Hell if they don't convert on the spot, along with all the other non-literal-end-time-bible-believers. Basically me and you.

Hear that sound? Is it the orchestra swelling as Palin and Reagan fly off into the End Times sunset together? Or is it just Ronald Reagan spinning like a turbine in his grave?

The End. And the moral of this story is,
"Palin = Reagan? Not So Much."

Maybe someday soon all Americans will finally tire of all the Big Red Fairy Tales, and will go back to looking for their American heroes where they've always been and always will be - in good old fashioned cowboy movies, like "Santa Fe Trail."
